La informática biomédica o informática <strong>en</strong> <strong>salud</strong> ti<strong>en</strong>e<br />
muchos campos <strong>de</strong> acción resultado <strong>de</strong> una historia<br />
interesante, que <strong>de</strong>muestra cómo ha evolucionado<br />
<strong>de</strong> acuerdo al avance <strong>de</strong> la tecnología. Recolectar<br />
información ha sido increíblem<strong>en</strong>te importante<br />
para la <strong>salud</strong> <strong>en</strong> este proceso, especialm<strong>en</strong>te porque<br />
repres<strong>en</strong>ta una oportunidad extraordinaria para todo<br />
el <strong>sector</strong> <strong>salud</strong>, <strong>de</strong>s<strong>de</strong> <strong>los</strong> individuos, pasando por sus<br />
características clínicas, su g<strong>en</strong>ética, etc. Pero a<strong>de</strong>más,<br />
constituye la ampliación <strong>de</strong> las oportunida<strong>de</strong>s <strong>en</strong> la<br />
práctica médica, la educación y la investigación. Y<br />
toda su aplicación <strong>en</strong> las <strong>de</strong>cisiones que se toman a<br />
nivel <strong>de</strong>l paci<strong>en</strong>te o a nivel poblacional.<br />
