Honduras has 91 protected areas that correspond to approximately<br />
29% of the national territory. There are 5 large ecoregions<br />
that include: Pacific dry forests, oak and pine forests,<br />
cloud forests, Atlantic rainforests, and savannas of Caribbean<br />
Pine in the Mosquitia region. In these ecoregions there are<br />
wetlands, mangroves, marine-coastal ecosystems and several<br />
islands, islets and keys, both in the Atlantic and in the Pacific.<br />

There is a great diversity of flora, with presence of more than<br />
60 varieties of plant ecosystems. Diversity of fauna can be<br />
observed, among which the Red Macaw, the National Bird of<br />
Honduras, stands out. You can enjoy a variety of activities<br />
and sports throughout the country, including: canopy, canoeing,<br />
rafting and other water sports, bird watching, hiking, rock<br />
climbing, and bathing in hot springs.<br />
