Presenting the newly
refurbished, Grade II listed,
Tamworth Assembly Rooms
Theatre – lovingly preserved
and modernised for future
generations to enjoy.
Your historic Tamworth Assembly Rooms
theatre is back and it’s better than ever!
We’re super excited to welcome audiences back to
Tamworth Assembly Rooms after a massive £5million
refurbishment project to secure the 130-year-old
venue for generations to come.
Restoring this much-loved community theatre has
been a long and ambitious project as we wanted to
both enhance and preserve the historic features that
make it such an iconic venue and ensure it lives up
to the expectations of modern audiences.
Tamworth Assembly Rooms was first proposed as a
lasting monument in celebration of the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria. It
was officially opened on October 8th, 1889 and therefore celebrated its
milestone 130th birthday last October. To celebrate we have 130 fabulous
prizes to give away! Follow our Facebook page and join our mailing list at
www.tamworthassemblyrooms.co.uk to be in with a chance of winning.
The refurbishment now ensures we can continue to deliver high quality
entertainment to the people of Tamworth for the next 130 years. The ambitious
project to bring the historic Tamworth Assembly Rooms into the 21st century
includes extensions to the side and rear to add a new multi-use space, extra
toilet facilities and an extended backstage area. There’s also a new bar and
café area, and we will be open in the day, as well as on show nights, so you
can come and see us for a cup of tea or a Starbucks coffee, a slice of cake –
and a look around.
We’re launching your new look, more modern theatre with a great opening
season, which kicks off in impressive style this January with Tamworth’s muchloved
Pantomime Company’s production of Aladdin and a spectacular
production of The Wizard of Oz, performed by one of the UK’s most beloved
touring ballet companies.
The season includes some exciting new shows including stars of the West End,
well known TV comedian Dom Joly, John Challis (aka Boycie), The Fureys, The
Christians, a 25-character Dad’s Army show performed by two actors, Britain’s
Got Talent finalists, the UK’s premier wartime act, the D-Day Darlings, Sooty,
Sarah and Duck and Mr Men and Little Miss.
