FASHION STATEMENT El regreso de UGG El Covid-19 dejará muchos cambios significativos en el comportamiento de los consumidores. Las personas pasarán mucho más tiempo dentro de sus casas; por ende, la categoría de tenis casuales crecerá y, seguramente, la firma UGG también. POR PAULINA ZAS A ndrea O’Donnell llevaba cuatro años viviendo en Hong Kong, cuando le propusieron ser presidente de Fashion Lifestyle en Deckers Brands, compañía a la que pertenece UGG. “Siempre fui fanática de la marca, y me entusiasmó mucho la idea de poder liderar una firma de estilo de vida californiana; sabía que había una gran oportunidad comercial, ya que UGG se había convertido en una de las marcas de calzado no deportivo más grandes del mundo y debíamos aprovecharla, aunado a la fuerza de ésta en categorías más allá de dichos accesorios”. La marca ha evolucionado a lo largo de los años, pero el principal concepto de Andrea es volver a conectarla con su esencia angelina, enfatizar su credibilidad en la moda y entusiasmar a los clientes con hermosos productos y también historias interesantes. “Llegué a la empresa en un momento en el que considero que había perdido un poco su calor. El equipo y yo hemos trabajado arduamente para volver a centrarnos en la esencia y para hacer productos bonitos con algunos de los diseñadores más populares del mundo. Además, hemos invertido más en marketing para involucrar a nuevos consumidores en nuestra historia”. Su inspiración surge de todas partes y de todo, “si quieres seguir siendo creativo, es importante tener la mente abierta, ser curioso y estar dispuesto y con ganas de aprender”. De hecho, ahora se encuentran trabajando en la colección F/W 2021 y comenzando a trabajar en S/S 2022. O’Donnell tiene una relación increíble con su equipo y trabajan muy de la mano, ama a sus colaboradores y disfruta mucho su tiempo con ellos y resolver juntos todo tipo de problemas e ideas creativas. No por nada se toma su rol como mentora y coach muy en serio; de hecho, siempre está buscando a esas personas trabajadoras y talentosas que triunfarán en algún momento no tan lejano. Andrea se encuentra muy comprometida con su nuevo empleo, ¨quiero que UGG sea conocida como una marca de estilo de vida de California y que crezca con éxito en este contexto. Apoyar a mi equipo para que sea feliz, saludable y de alto rendimiento”. Con respecto a su vida personal, quiere pasar más tiempo con su familia, aprender a cultivar un huerto, a cocinar y a hacer la margarita perfecta. “Tengo una larga lista de objetivos”.
