Summary<br />

Nowadays before the entrance of international competitors who offer goods and<br />

services to the smaller price, with high reduced time and quality levels of delivery; the<br />

Mexican companies require applying competitive strategies whose differentiating<br />

element, of the rest of the competition, is the quality of their products and services and<br />

are oriented to the satisfaction of the client. In order to obtain the previous thing, they<br />

are an ample variety of techniques oriented to the optimization of the processes,<br />

between which is Six Sigma (SS).<br />

One of the advantages of SS with respect to other techniques is that it<br />

emphasizes the use of statistical tools that allow measuring the present situation of the<br />

process to improve it. In this way, it is possible to reduce defects, to diminish the time<br />

cycle and like turn out to offer greater satisfaction to the client. Therefore, the<br />

application of SS can be very useful for the Mexican companies that they look for to<br />

reduce the defects, to increase his capacity to fulfill the specifications of the client and to<br />

optimize his processes, reason for study of the present proposal.<br />

The intention of the present investigation is the application of Six Sigma in a<br />

lithographical company to solve a problem related to the quality of the process of Offset<br />

impression and therefore, to diminish the number of defects in a product that generates<br />

a high percentage in the sales for the company under study. The previous thing,<br />

through an approach oriented in the statistical analysis of the processes.<br />

From the previous thing, one demonstrates that the application of SS not only<br />

can be applied in great international partnerships, but also can adapt to lithographical<br />

means companies so large, small and big, because the application of SS non demand<br />

of great investments, already that are only required of the analysis of the process and of<br />

the factors that influence the variables quality critics to understand and to reduce the<br />

variation. If it is certain well that in all proposal of improvement a cost related to the<br />

experimentation stage exists, also is it that the investment recovers in short time and<br />

that the gains generated by the reduction of reprocesos are translated in the diminution<br />

of costs of producing defects.<br />

Finally, throughout the present investigation emphasis in the combination is<br />

made of the statistical thought with the experience of the people in charge of the<br />

process, since without doubt any improvement or redefinition of the work methods is<br />

impossible if they do not consider the people.
