First edition. Complete copy with a few stains but complete with all the beautiful colour<br />
plates by Whymper and Gilbert. With the very particular <strong>en</strong>graved title-vignette ‘An Heraldic<br />
Dolomite’. A German edition was published in 1865-1868 in 2 volumes but without the<br />
colour plates. An Italian edition was printed in 1981 only. Descriptions of travels through<br />
the Dolomites with an important chapter on its geology and the ‘Physical description of<br />
the dolomite region by G.C. Churchill. Both authors were members of the famous London<br />
