Glossaire Afférent, e qui se dirige ou coule vers <strong>la</strong> région ou le corps désigné, par exemple l'artère branchiale afférente amène le sang <strong>de</strong> l'aorte ventrale aux branchies. Anastomose (n.f.) communication fonctionnelle naturelle entre <strong>de</strong>ux vaisseaux sanguins ou autres con<strong>du</strong>its. Antérieur, e se rapportant à <strong>la</strong> tête ou à <strong>la</strong> partie avant d'un animal. Aorte (n.f.) grosse artère é<strong>la</strong>stique <strong>du</strong> tronc principal <strong>du</strong> système artériel. Arc hémal (n.m.) prolongement ventral <strong>de</strong>s vertèbres (épines hémales) qui enferme l'aorte dorsale <strong>et</strong> <strong>la</strong> veine caudale dans un os, après <strong>la</strong> sortie <strong>de</strong> ceux-ci à <strong>la</strong> partie postérieure <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> cavité <strong>du</strong> corps. Artère (n.f.) vaisseau é<strong>la</strong>stique à paroi épaisse qui distribue le sang ordinairement rouge vif <strong>et</strong> bien oxygéné en provenance <strong>du</strong> cœur. L'aorte ventrale, comme l'artère pulmonaire chez les humains, transporte <strong>du</strong> sang pauvre en oxygène. Autonome s'applique au système nerveux <strong>et</strong> indique une indépendance fonctionnelle <strong>de</strong> l'influence extérieure ou cérébro-spinale; qui contrôle les g<strong>la</strong>n<strong>de</strong>s <strong>et</strong> les muscles lisses. Branchial, e se rapportant aux branchies. Caudal, e voir Postérieur. Coel-, cœlio-, caelopréfixes indiquant un rapport avec l'abdomen, le ventre ou <strong>la</strong> cavité <strong>du</strong> corps. Hématopoïétique se rapportant à <strong>la</strong> formation <strong>de</strong>s cellules sanguines. Hépatique se rapportant au foie. Intercostal, e entre les côtes. Latéral, e se rapportant au côté <strong>du</strong> corps, droit ou gauche. Parasagittal, e toute coupe sagittale parallèle au p<strong>la</strong>n médian. Pariétal, e se rapportant à <strong>la</strong> paroi d'une cavité (par exemple, <strong>la</strong> paroi <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> cavité <strong>du</strong> corps). Périphérique se rapportant à <strong>la</strong> partie extérieure ou à <strong>la</strong> surface d'un corps; qui est éloigné <strong>du</strong> centre <strong>du</strong> corps. P<strong>la</strong>n médian (n.m.) coupe verticale (<strong>du</strong> dos au ventre) <strong>et</strong> longitudinale (<strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> tête à <strong>la</strong> queue) qui divise le corps en <strong>de</strong>ux moitiés, droite <strong>et</strong> gauche, presque i<strong>de</strong>ntiques. On lui donne aussi le nom <strong>du</strong> p<strong>la</strong>n sagittal, mais tous les p<strong>la</strong>ns sagittaux ne sont pas nécessairement <strong>de</strong>s p<strong>la</strong>ns médians. Postérieur, e ou caudal, e se rapportant à l'arrière ou à <strong>la</strong> queue <strong>de</strong> l'animal. S'emploient aussi substantivement. Rénal, e se rapportant au rein. Système porte (n.m.) réseau ou plexus <strong>de</strong> capil<strong>la</strong>ires p<strong>la</strong>cé sur le parcours d'une ou plusieurs veines, facilitant le contact entre le sang <strong>et</strong> le tissu d'un organe, par exemple le système porte rénal ai<strong>de</strong> à purifier le sang <strong>et</strong> le système porte hépatique apporte les éléments nutritifs <strong>du</strong> tractus digestif au foie pour resynthèse.
