Le bailliage de Chauny avaitsa.ccratumc particulière, au silence de laquelle cellede Laon suppléait.Le marquisat de Genlis ayant été érigé en duchépairieau mois d'avril 177 4, sous le titre de VillequicrAumont les appels de ce duché furent portésdirectement au bailliage de Noyon, en vertu d'unedécision royale.La chàtelleme de Chauny, unie au domaine parle roi Philippe Auguste, fut aliénée en 1 353. Laréunion au domaine, décidée par lettres patentes du37 mai 1378, ratifiées par autres lettres d'octobre1h11 n'a été effectivement opérée que par l'avénementde Louis, duc d'Orléans, au trône. La chàtel-;• leniea été engagée le 33 décembre 1072 au moisde mai 1-60Get le 3 août 1674, puis réunie de nouveaupar arrêt du Conseil d'Etat; elle a encore étéaliénée, le 16 octobre 1699, par voied'échange avecle comte de Guiscard, qui devait la tenir directementdé la tour du Louvre. Ce domaine a été, parlettres patentes de janvier 1703 uni' à la seigneuriede Magny, pour ne former à l'avenir qu'un seulcorps de seigneurie érigé en marquisat sous le nomde Guiscard. Leslettres patentes ont été enregistréesau parlementle 20 avril tyo5. Le roi se réserva lahaute justice.
