Study Tours
A2. Southern Switzerland
Day 1: Meeting of participants in the evening in Zurich – Tour presentation – Overnight in Zurich.
Day 2: City tour of Zurich and continuation by bus to Andermatt (Urseren Valley) – Oberalp Pass
– Sedrun (Vorderrhein Valley) – Visit of the intermediate construction access for the new Gotthard Base
Tunnel (2x57 km long) and information about the intensifi ed monitoring of the Nalps and Santa Maria
Dams – Continuation to Disentis (important cloister of 17th century). Overnight in Disentis.
Day 3: Departure by bus to the Lukmanier Pass – Visit of the Santa Maria Arch Dam on the way – Continuation
to the Blenio Valley on the Southern side of the Alps – Visit of the Luzzone Arch Dam, heightened
in 1997–1999 – Continuation to Bellinzona and Lugano – Overnight in Lugano.
Day 4: From Lugano to the Magadino Plain – Visit of the Contra Arch Dam and continuation towards
San Bernardino (Mesocco Valley) – Visit of the nearby Isola Dam and information about the rehabilitation
project of the dam – Continuation to the Hinterrhein Valley – On the way visit of the Romanesque
church at Zillis with its unique painted wooden ceiling (12th century) – Continuation to Chur – Sargans
Country – Lake of Zurich and Lucerne. Tour ends in Lucerne.

Jour 1: Rencontre des participants le soir à Zurich – Présentation du voyage – Nuit à Zurich.
Jour 2: Tour de ville de Zurich, puis voyage en car en direction d’Andermatt (vallée d’Urseren) – col de
l’Oberalp – Sedrun (vallée du Rhin antérieur) – Visite de l’accès intermédiaire au tunnel de base du
Gothard (2x57 km de long) et information sur la surveillance intensifi ée des barrages de Nalps et Santa
Maria – Suite du voyage à Disentis (cloître du 17 e siècle) – Nuit à Disentis.
Jour 3: Départ en car pour le col du Lukmanier – En route, visite du barrage-voûte de Santa Maria
– Passage dans le Val Blenio sur le versant sud des Alpes – Visite du barrage-voûte de Luzzone,
surélevé en 1997–1999 – Continuation en direction de Bellinzona et Lugano – Nuit à Lugano.
Jour 4: De Lugano à la Plaine de Magadino – Visite du barrage-voûte de Contra (Val Verzasca) – Suite
du voyage en direction de San Bernardino – Visite du barrage d’Isola et information sur le projet de
réhabilitation de l’ouvrage – Continuation dans la vallée du Rhin postérieur – Visite de l’église romane
de Zillis avec son remarquable plafond en bois peint (12 e siècle) – Suite du voyage par Coire, Pays de
Sargans et Lac de Zurich à Lucerne.
