I recently published a personal blog after returning from
the Daytona Supercross, the tail end of two super
challenging weeks on the job. The post was sort of a
venting for me after being inundated by the question
"what happened to Shorty?" I didn't post it looking for
fanfare, which is why I did it as a personal blog but I got
a lot of feedback, all of it heartwarming and most of it
saying it was a good read.
It touches on a point that gets lost in all of us goal
setting, determined types, causing us to lose our way a
bit, overlooking the lessons that truly count.
In professional racing, results do matter; that's reality,
contracts get awarded based on results, not based on
how hard one tries. But the reality is that most of us are
strictly amateurs and though results may be a relative
priority to some, it's not what truly matters in the end. I
see this get lost in amateur racing a lot and I hope that
through the drive, determination, training and racing
that at the end of the day, you can take pride in what this
blog was trying to portray.
Here it is in its entirety and I hope you find it a good read
too.
