Transportvorkehrungen waren höchst effizient.
Delegierte und Offizielle wurden im gleichen
Hotel untergebracht und, je nach Wunsch, entweder
im Minibus oder Auto befördert.
Am Sonntag, den 25. Oktober 2009, hatten
alle Mannschaften Gelegenheit zum Training,
außer der griechischen Mannschaft, die erst
sehr spät am Abend eintraf. Die Überprüfung
der Polizeiausweise/Pässe, die Unterzeichnung
der Anti-Doping-Erklärungen sowie die Mannschaftsführerbesprechung
fanden alle am
Abend des 25. Oktober 2009 im Hotel statt
und liefen ohne Zwischenfälle ab.
Am Montag, den 26. Oktober 2009, fand im
Hotel die Eröffnungszeremonie statt. Der Einzug
wurde von vier berittenen Polizeibeamten
und der Polizeikapelle der Polizei Süd-Yorkshire
angeführt. Die eigentliche Zeremonie fand im
reich geschmückten Ballsaal des Hotels statt.
Dabei übernahm die Polizeikapelle den musikalischen
Part, und eine Anzahl von Würdenträgern
und Sponsoren wohnte der

The delegates and officials were accommodated
at the same hotel and were transported
by either mini-bus or car as they chose.
All the teams had an opportunity to train on
Sunday 25 October 2009, with the exception
of the Greek Team who did not arrive until
very late in the evening. The check of players’
police identification/passports, the signing of
the anti-doping declarations and the Technical
Meeting all took place on the evening of Sunday
25 October 2009 at the Hotel and passed
without incident.
The Opening Ceremony took place on the
morning of Monday 26 October 2009 at the
hotel. The procession to the hotel was led by
4 police officers on horses and the police band
from South Yorkshire Police. The ceremony
itself took place in the very ornate ballroom in
the hotel. The police band provided the music
and the ceremony was witnessed by a number
of visiting dignitaries and sponsors. The
speeches were from Steve Finnigan, Chair of
Police Sport UK, and Luc Smeyers, President of
USPE, and were in English. Written translations
of the speeches were provided for those present
who could not understand English. The
Fédération sportive de la police du Royaume
Uni et Luc Smeyers, Président de l’USPE. Des
traductions écrites des discours ont été distribués
à ceux qui n’étaient pas familiers avec la
langue anglaise. La cérémonie d’ouverture
était conforme aux directives de l’USPE et fût
couronnée de succès. Elle a été suivie par un
déjeuner VIP.
La cérémonie d’ouverture et le dîner VIP était
suivie par le premier match entre le Royaume-
Uni et la France.
En date du mercredi 28 octobre 2009, une
réception à l’Hôtel de Ville avait été organisée
sur invitation de M. le Bourgmestre pour les
représentants de USPE, les délégués et les
chefs d’équipe.
Tous les matches ont été disputés à l’école de
« All Saints » à Sheffield, qui est le stade
d’attache des « Sheffield Hatters », l’actuel
champion anglais et vainqueur de la coupe
nationale.
Le commissaire du tournoi fût Roger Harrison
(arbitre FIBA) et les six arbitres étaient du plus
haut niveau national et provenaient de la première
division de la ligue anglaise de basketball,
membres ou aspirants FIBA. Tous les
chronométreurs et arbitres provenaient du
niveau de la ligue nationale et étaient originaires
de la région.
Comme il n’y avait que quatre équipes en
compétition, chacun a joué contre chacun
dans le premier tour pour définir le classement
pour les matches des demi-finales et finales.
Ces jeux se sont fait sur les trois premiers jours.
Les demi-finales ont été fixées de sorte que la
première équipe classée a rencontré le quatrième
classé et que le deuxième classé a joué
contre celle classée troisième. Les demi-finales
