aim to allow the Group to compete on
an even footing with major international
plant builders. Towards the end of
2004, at the Chicago-held PMMI fair
and the Salon de l’Emballage in Paris,
Sacmi Filling aroused keen interest
within the industry by presenting its
new Volo Mas and Solo Mas filling
units.
On the labelling scene 2004 saw SCM
merge with Sacmi Labelling to form a
single entity capable of supplying
machines for every stage of the labelling
process, whatever the container
type. At the industry’s key trade fairs,
held in Chicago and Paris, Sacmi
Labelling presented the latest version
of Opera, the ultra-fast roll-fed singlestation
labeller that, over the last three
years, has been installed in some 200
companies all over the world.
In the packaging field Inpak Imola is
now Sacmi Packaging, a new company
that is the hub of Sacmi’s packaging
machine operations. Thanks to a
renewed range of forming, cartoning
and palletizing machines and effective
sales policies in new markets such as
the Czech Republic, Spain, Turkey and
Central-South America 2004 saw
sales more than double with respect
to the previous year.
This expansion was also the result of
the purchase of a branch of Carle &
Montanari that produces chocolate
and sweet packaging machines.
Wrapping machines, mostly used in
the confectionary industry, enjoyed
significantly more success than in
2003, mainly thanks to the completion
of an order for a leading Italian food
producer-packager. A production plant
with seven automatic canning lines
was supplied to the Codigoro facility
belonging to Conserve Italia, Europe’s
leading producer of preserved fruit and
vegetable products which, in 2004,
took over Cirio De Rica.
The market for the form-fill-seal
machines made by Benco Pack generated
results similar to those achieved
in 2003. Thanks to a new aseptic
range with shrink-wrap sleeve labelling
that is arousing considerable interest
among the big international cheese
producers, expectations for 2005
are running high.
Over the course of 2004 Benco Pack
also became the official filling machine
supplier to Gyma-Teampack, the French
company that produces ketchup,
mayonnaise and sauce sachets for
some of the world’s most famous fast
food and catering chains such as
McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken
and Pizza Hut.
