1. Circulating T cells are activated by unknown antigen, eg, P0 or P2. T<br />

cells then adhere to the endothelial layer and migrate intraneurally.<br />

2. T cells are activated by their specific antigen presented by professional<br />

antigen presenting cells or by non-professional APC<br />

3. T-cell activation leads to cytokine secretion that activates<br />

macrophages, which release proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF,<br />

OH -, complement factors, and PGE,<br />

4. T cells activate B cells, which produce myelin-specific antibo<strong>di</strong>es that<br />

attach to the myelin sheath
