Briko: accessories
for feet
Often forgotten or given little importance, accessories are products
that help to make athletes feel more comfortable when practicing
sports. For this reason Briko guarantees high technology in this
category too, offering products that range from underwear to
gloves, from bandanas to shoe covers. Amongst the accessories,
socks play a fundamental role, especially on hot days when feet
tend to sweat a lot. The models presented by Briko are Katana,
Devil, Team and Record, just like the clothing ranges and therefore
ideal to complete the “uniform” of the cyclist, whether professional
or simple enthusiast. Available in a wide range of colours, Briko
socks give the sportsman a wide choice of textiles too since each
model comes in a different material. From the breathable Sensura
and Carbon textile in the Katana line, to the freshness of Meryl in
Devil socks, from traditional cotton in the Record range to the innovative
Coolmax Mesh, created to keep humidity away and leave feet
feeling fresh and dry, Briko always manages to find the right formula
for all athletes’ feet.
Briko: accessori per
i piedi
modello utilizza differenti materiali.
Asics Gel-Nimbus 11
arrives
Coming soon to retail stores the latest version of
the now famous running shoe, which is
equipped with an excellent shock absorbing
system individually
designed for men and
women. Asics researchers
who study the biomechanics
and differences
between male and female runners
have developed specific technologies
to deal with these differences. Their latest achievement in
this respect is a redesigned version of the Gel-Nimbus 11 mid-sole.
Since women generally weigh less than men, they tend to put less
pressure on the front part of the foot when they run. Asics designers
have consequently adapted the density of the mid-sole, making it
more supple in the toe area, increasing flexibility and boosting comfort
for improved running.
The excellent comfort levels reached by Gel-Nimbus 11 are due to the
insertion of 4 millimetres of “memory” foam in the tongue. Already
used in the Personal Heel Fit system, this foam ensures that the
tongue holds its shape, thus making it much more comfortable. The
overall weight of the shoe has been reduced by 14 grams, making it
exceptionally light.
Dryarn,
fibre of the future
Originating from the experience and tradition of the Aquafil group,
Dryarn is the lightest fibre existing in nature and is 100 percent recyclable.
Thanks to the intrinsic characteristics and performance offered to
those who wear clothes realised in Dryarn, this microfibre finds a
place in an eco-sustainable wardrobe.
It dries particular quickly, needs no ironing and can be washed
at low temperatures because it is particularly dirt-resistant
since particles do not penetrate the fibres but remain on the surface.
One hundred percent recyclable, Dryarn originates as a pre-dyed
yarn and therefore does not need further dyeing.
Furthermore, thanks to the thermoregulatory characteristics
of the yarn, which keep the body temperature fresh in summer
and warm in winter, items made in Dryarn can be
worn all year round.
The exceptional thermal insulation keeps body temperature
steady, protecting it from cold and
heat; furthermore the fibre is resistant to
moulds, moths, bacteria and other
microorganisms. (P.P.)
Arriva Asics
Gel-Nimbus 11
I designer
lavata a basse temperature perché è particolarmente
per 12 mesi all’anno.
muffe, tarme, batteri e altri microrganismi. (P.P.)

Anci Meeting
Artioli confirmed
Chairman
vito Artioli will remain at the helm of Anci (National
Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers) for a
further two-year term. The Board of Directors, elected on
4 June, met in Bologna on Thursday, 2 July to reconfirm
Vito Artioli to the Chairmanship. Also reconfirmed were
the mandates of Lino Fornari (Fornari – Civitanova Marche, Marche)
and Angelo Giannini (Angelo Giannini – Monte Urano, Ascoli
Piceno), vice-chairmen of the previous two-year term and Treasurer
Giuseppe Piazzola (Calzaturificio Pezzol – Barletta, Bari). The two
new vice-chairmen are Renzo D’Arcano (Frau Verona) and Giampiero
Bachini (Gardenia – Pisa). The positions are for a two-year term.
“Following my reconfirmation to the Chairmanship of ANCI, I am even
more determined to carry forth the priority objectives that have driver
my mandate from the start. Of course, for me, the
focal point remains the success of Italian footwear
manufacture. I have always stressed the need to
bring our industry forcefully to the attention of the
political and national and international
entrepreneurial system and, in part, I believe that
in this has been done over the past two years; and I
am still convinced of the need to continue along
this route.
Trade fair policies, at home and abroad, the
maximising of the made in Italy product, the
globalisation of markets, schools and training,
technology and quality, studies and services of the
Fashion Committee, ANCI’s young entrepreneur
group are the aspects to which I feel we must pay
maximum attention. But attention is also necessary
to offer associates an increasingly punctual and
modern service.
Furthermore, my nomination as Chairman of the European Footwear
Confederation is further proof of just how important the problems of
antidumping and mandatory labelling of origin are both at national
and European levels. In fact, the assignation of the CEC chairmanship
to Italy is particularly significant because ANCI has always been in the
front line to boost the growth of the European footwear industry,
paying attention to these matters and representing a choice to
emphasise and give continuity to the activities carried out thus far by
the Confederation for the development of the sector’s companies”.
Assembela Anci
Artioli
confermato
alla presidenza
vito Artioli guiderà
per altri due anni
l’Anci
(Associazione
nazionale
Calzaturifici Italiani). Il
consiglio direttivo, eletto il 4
giugno scorso, si è riunito a
Bologna giovedì 2 giugno,
riconfermando la presidenza di
Vito Artioli. Riconfermati i
mandati di Lino Fornari (Fornari
– Civitanova marche MA) e
Angelo Giannini (Angelo
Giannini - Monte Urano AP)
vicepresidenti già dello scorso
biennio ed il tesoriere in carica
Giuseppe Piazzolla
(calzaturificio Pezzol – Barletta
BA). I due nuovi vicepresidenti
sono Renzo D’Arcano (Frau
Verona) e Giampiero Bachini
(Gardenia – Pisa). Le cariche si
intendono per due anni.
Vito Artioli: ”All’indomani della mia
riconferma alla presidenza di ANCI, sono
sempre più determinato nel portare avanti gli
obiettivi prioritari che hanno sin dall’inizio
guidato il mio mandato. Naturalmente il
punto centrale resta per me l’affermazione
del settore calzaturiero italiano. Ho da
sempre evidenziato la necessità di portare la
nostra industria all’attenzione del sistema
politico e imprenditoriale nazionale e
all’Italia, infatti, è particolarmente significativa poiché ANCI è da

Trento University says so
Expo Riva Schuh,
the favourite
Lake Garda is a really lovely location; the trade fair gets many
flattering compliments and the entire province enjoys the
benefits. Agreement signed to expand the structure
expo Riva Schuh is the essential meeting point for the
footwear sector and an irreplaceable medium for the
local economy. As if it were needed, confirmation of this
comes from a survey carried out by Trento University that
specifies: each Expo Riva Schuh exhibition sees the participation of
36% of the world’s leading footwear companies. For summer 2009,
we are talking about 1,157 footwear manufacturers and retailers who
spent between 5 and 10 thousand Euros a head in the Lake Garda
area. Apart from these figures (excluding the hotel trade), there are
also those regarding visiting professionals (reached quota 10,247).
The positive effects of the trade fair on the Garda district were
discussed in the Palazzo dei Congressi in Riva on 29 June, in the
presence of entrepreneurs from the financial-tourist world of Garda
Trentino and in the evening Chairman Roberto Pellegrini and Director
Giovanni Laezza took the opportunity to take stock of the situation
and map out future prospects.
The extremely positive picture and data supplied by the spokesmen of
Trento University who conducted the research also brought to light the
need to guarantee an efficient and competitive fair-congress centre in
Trentino. Today Riva del Garda Fierecongressi is seen to be bucking the
trend compared with other international situations in the sector and it
is also by virtue of this result that the Chairman of the autonomous
Siglato un accordo per ampliare la struttura
expo Riva Schuh è il
momento di
incontro
fondamentale per il
settore della calzatura ed è un
volano insostituibile per
l’economia locale. La conferma,
se mai ci fosse l’esigenza di
averla, arriva dallo studio
dell’Università di Trento che
specifica: ad ogni edizione di
Expo Riva Schuh partecipa il
36% delle aziende leader nel
mondo nel settore calzaturiero.
Si parla di 1157 calzaturifici e
distributori per l’edizione estiva
del 2009 che hanno speso sul
territorio del lago di Garda tra 5
mila e i 10 mila euro a testa.
Oltre a questi valori (tutti
extralberghieri) ci sono quelli
dei visitatori professionali
(giunti a quota 10.247).
Le ricadute positive della fiera
sul distretto del Garda sono
state discusse al Palazzo dei
Province of Trento, Lorenzo Dellai, and the Mayor of Riva, Claudio
Molinari, spoke out on the day after the signing of an important
agreement between the two organisations finalised to give new
impetus to the construction of the new structures for the fair (in
Baltera) and for congresses (on the banks of the lake).
Let’s take a closer look at the figures that interest the footwear
sector: interviews revealed that Expo Riva Schuh is an essential
meeting point for 91% of visitors and 90% of exhibitors; for 78% of
participants it is an occasion to make new contacts and conclude
business deals and has an additional value that derives from the
event’s long history.
For 60% of visitors and 66% of exhibitors, Riva del Garda is
considered the ideal destination for organising such an important
exhibition. It is felt that it offers all the services necessary and the
area has many additional things to offer (amusements, recreational
and sports activities) for 68% of visitors and 66% of exhibitors.
The interviews were conducted among participants of Expo Riva Schuh
and Outdoordays (Riva’s latest event that interweaves with the
environmental heritage to offer sports and holidays in Alto Garda).
All confirmed Garda’s incredible appeal. If only one third of the
participants in Outdoordays stayed overnight to visit the fair, at least
60% came especially for the event. Fifty percent chose to stay in a
hotel whilst 14% went camping but all took part in cultural and
recreational exhibitions and outings with more than half of visitors
spending between 26 and 100 Euros, excluding hotel expenses.
Fifty-two percent of companies that came to Riva del Garda for
Outdoordays spent between 2,000 and 7,000 Euros.
Also to be considered is all the work linked to the congressional sector
that last year generated 75 events with a 30% increase in national
and international exhibitions, which totalled 113,000 visitors and a
direct turnover that shot from 1,062 to 1,476 million Euros.
Money and commitment that spread in all directions over the province
of Trento, with ramifications and involvement of supplying companies
and makes Riva del Garda an important if not vital centre.
Congressi di Riva il 29 giugno
l’occasione per il presidente
Roberto Pellegrini e per il
direttore Giovanni Laezza di
fare il punto della situazione e
per tracciare prospettive future.
Il quadro e i dati estremamente
positivi forniti dagli esponenti
dell’Università di Trento che
hanno curato la ricerca hanno
contestualmente messo in luce
la necessità di garantire a polo
fieristico-congressuale trentino
efficienza e competitività. Oggi
Riva del Garda Fieracongressi
risulta essere in netta
controtendenza rispetto alle
altre realtà internazionali del
settore ed è anche in virtù di
questo risultato che il
presidente della Provincia
autonoma di Trento Lorenzo
Dellai e il sindaco di Riva
Claudio Molinari si sono
espressi all’indomani della
tra i due enti finalizzato proprio
a dare nuovo impulso all’iter
per la costruzione delle nuove
strutture fieristiche (alla
Baltera) e congressuale (in riva
al lago).
Ma veniamo ai dati che
interessano più da vicino il
settore della calzatura: dalle
interviste è emerso che Expo
Riva Schuh è il momento di
incontro fondamentale per il
91% dei visitatori e per il 90%
Gruppo Giovani
enrico Paniccià is the new president of Anci’s Young
Entrepreneurs. The election took place on Friday 3 July, in
the Marche region, in a subsidiary meeting of the
(Young Entrepreneurs of Shoe Manufacturing).
Paniccià has been managing director of Giano Srl in Torre San Patrizio
since 1999. Giano was founded by his grandfather Umberto Intorbida
in 1947. From a small, family company which had a turnover of little
more than one million Euros in 1999, Giano is today an established
industrial reality with a turnover of eight million Euros. Despite the
current difficulties in the sector, the company has used growth
strategies, from licensing to the opening of stores: Paniccià himself
was the organiser of the license agreement for the production and
distribution of the Argentinian brand La Martina men’s and women’s
footwear, and in 2008 he set up a company with them for the opening
of one-brand stores by 2010. In January 2008 Giano signed its second
license contract for the production and distribution of Harmont &
Blaine footwear, the well-known Italian brand of menswear. Paniccià
is already a reference point in Fermo’s entrepreneurial world and not
only that: he was president of the Young Entrepreneurs of
Confindustria (Employer’s Association) in Fermo from 2004 to 2007,
vice-president of Anci’s Giovani group since 2005 and vice-president
From the annual meeting of young
entrepreneurs from the footwear industry
‘Made in Italy’ faces
the future
And it will pass the test by focusing on the product and quality of service
The future of ‘Made in Italy’ and Italian talent was the underlying topic which
marked the annual meeting of young Anci entrepreneurs, a meeting which took
place in Fermo in the Marche region on 3 July.
The meeting was opened by the young entrepreneurs’ president, Daniele Salmaso
assisted by the coordinator Carlo Pambianco. Among the speakers were: Ronny
Bigioni, Cleto Sagripanti, Vito Artioli, Gianmarco Gabrieli, Francesco
Giannattasio, Simona Leggeri, and Domenico Mentiti representing the various
groups of Confindustria, Federlegno, Giovani Imprenditori, Giovani Anci and Ad
Harmont & Blaine. The round table discussions were the occasion to go into more
detail over the concept of brand extension as the path to follow for brand development,
a path that could be that of increasing market supply or that of product
specialisation. The panorama is varied and every entrepreneur must choose
based on company type, product and placement– it was said – taking into
account factors which characterise the market today. One factor is since 2000,
the appearance of clothing companies which have introduced their own brand
footwear collection, making the scenario still less legible and provoking a profound
change in the rules of the game. Moreover this has made the brand a critical
success factor and investments in communication a powerful instrument for
the “conquest” and winning the loyalty of the customer.
How much do our shoes cost in the shops
The per capita expenditure on footwear in Italy has remained stable, and since
2000 the market has grown very little, with in 2008, a return to the levels seen at
the start of the decade, according to what has emerged from the analysis presented
by Anci’s Ufficio Studi on the footwear expenditure of Italian inhabitants. The
same number of pairs sold but at an increasing average price, from around 34.86
Euros in 2000 to 39.7 Euros in 2008. These prices take into account all the different
types of shoe purchase, from boots to slippers, and even temporary modifications
to the shopping basket and purchases made during sales and offers. The
average increase, which has remained below the level of inflation, certainly underestimates
some types of footwear, and is generated by changes in the supply and
by a different competitive scenario. Leather footwear is worthy of separate consideration.
Their average price in 2008 was 58 Euros; the demand for these shoes
represents almost 45% of the volume sold and 65% of the value. End-of-season
sales and the discounts in the points of sale are more important with this type and
there is evidence of an average price variation every month. At the beginning of
the winter season it was about 73.14 Euros, in December it was about 67.25
Euros, in January it ”collapsed” to 61.63 Euros and in February it was at 55.40
Euros. So from November to February, the last two months count for more than
52% of the purchases in volume; the importance of the months where the discount
is higher reaches 40%. It is the same situation for the summer season.
The entrepreneurial risk
What does all this tell us That the distribution, and obviously the production systems
“are today under pressure from an increasing entrepreneurial risk and a
more and more contingent remuneration.” So it is of primary importance for the
footwear industry to reduce costs through greater production and distribution
efficiency. “We must intercept market demands and translate them quickly into
products distributed with the greatest efficiency so as not lose in competitiveness.
Once again what will make the difference will not be just the product but
also the quality of the service given to clients which will allow improvements in
the quality-style-price ratio of the products supplied.”
Companies must choose between a partial reduction or slowing down of investments
in communication and distribution, or an increase, taking advantage of
the competition’s moment of weakness.
A changing scenario
These points for consideration made the work of the meeting profitable. The significant
growth of low-cost shoe imports from China was highlighted on one
hand, and the growth in luxury brand footwear supply on the other which has
generated the increase in the average price, but also the productive re-conversion
of Italian companies towards high quality production.
Dall’assemblea annuale dei giovani
imprenditori dell’industria calzaturiera
Il made in Italy affronta
contrassegnato l’assemblea annuale
dei giovani imprenditori di Anci,
riunione che si è svolta a Fermo
nelle Marche il 3 luglio.
L’assemblea è stata aperta dal
presidente dei giovani Anci Daniele
Salmaso, che aveva al suo fianco il
coordinatore Carlo Pambianco, Tra i
relatori poi: Ronny Bigioni, Cleto
Sagripanti, Vito Artioli, Gianmarco
Gabrieli, Francesco Giannattasio,
Simona Leggeri, Domenico Mentiti,
in rappresentanza dei vari gruppi di
Confindustria, di Federlegno, dei
Giovani Imprenditori, dei Giovani
Ance e di Ad Harmont & Blaine.
La tavola rotonda è stata l’occasione
per approfondire il concetto del
brand extension, inteso come strada
da seguire per lo sviluppo del
marchio, strada che può essere
quella dell’ampliamento dell’offerta
commerciale o quella della
specializzazione di prodotto. Lo
scenario è vario e ogni imprenditore
deve scegliere in base al proprio tipo
di azienda, di prodotto e di
posizionamento - è stato detto -
tenendo conto dei fattori che
caratterizzano oggi il mercato. Uno è
quello che a partire dal 2000 ha
visto la comparsa di aziende
dell’abbigliamento che hanno
introdotto linee di calzature a
marchio proprio, contribuendo a
rendere ancor ameno leggibile lo
scenario e provocando un profondo
cambiamento delle regole del gioco.
Questo fattore inoltre ha reso il
brand un fattore critico di successo,
e gli investimenti in comunicazione
un potente strumento per la
“conquista” e la fidelizzazione del
cliente.
Quanto costano le nostre scarpe in
negozio
2008, secondo quanto emerso
dall’analisi presentata dall’Ufficio
Studi di Anci sul consumo d calzature
dei residenti in Italia. Stesso numero
di paia vendute, ma ad un prezzo
medio in aumento che dai circa
34,86 euro del 2000 è salito ai 39,7
del 2008. I prezzi tengono conto
degli acquisti di tutte le tipologie di
calzature, dagli stivali alle pantofole,
delle modifiche anche temporanee
del paniere di acquisto e degli
acquisti fatti con saldi e promozioni.
L’aumento medio, che è rimasto
sotto il livello dell’inflazione,
certamente sottostima quelle di
alcune tipologie di calzature ed è
generato da cambiamenti
dell’offerta e da un diverso scenario
competitivo.
Un discorso a parte meritano le
calzature in pelle. Il loro prezzo
medio nel 2008 è stato di 58 euro; il
consumo di queste scarpe
rappresenta quasi il 45% dei volumi
venduti e il 65% del valore.
Su questa tipologia pesa in maniera
più determinante il saldo di fine
stagione e la scontistica sui punti
vendita e si assiste ad una variazione
del prezzo medio per mese. All’inizio
della stagione invernale era attestato
sul 73,14 euro, a dicembre era a
67,25, a gennaio “crollava” a 61,63 e
distributivo e ovviamente quello
produttivo «sono oggi sotto la
pressione di un rischio
imprenditoriale in aumento e di una
remunerazione sempre più
aleatoria». Quindi di primaria
importanza per l’industria
calzaturiera è la riduzione dei costi
attraverso una maggiore efficienza
nella produzione e nella
distribuzione. «Bisogna intercettare
le esigenze del mercato e tradurle
velocemente in prodotti distribuiti
con la massima efficacia per non
perdere in competitività e, ancora
una volta, la differenza la farà non
solo il prodotto ma anche la qualità
del servizio reso ai lieti che
consentirà di migliorare il rapporto
qualità-stile-prezzo dei prodotti
offerti».
Le aziende devono scegliere tra una
parziale riduzione o rallentamento
degli investimenti in comunicazione
e distribuzione oppure un aumento,
approfittando del momento di
debolezza della concorrenza.
Uno scenario che cambia
Questi spunti di riflessione hanno
reso proficui i lavori dell’assemblea.
ASSOCIATION
56
At the annual assembly, Acrib Chairman,
Giuseppe Baiardo asks everyone to believe
in what they are doing
Strong signals
from the Riviera
del Brenta:
“You don’t guess
the future, you
build it!”
the annual assembly of Acrib, the association of footwear
manufacturers from the Riviera del Brenta, could only begin
and develop around a word that, this year, we have been
forced to hear more than ever before – and the word that is
anything but magical is: crisis. In his speech, the
association’s chairman, Giuseppe Baiardo focused his
attention on this word, certainly not with the intent of wallowing in
misery or, even worse, putting the knife in, but with the aim of
starting from there to indicate the tools necessary to make changes.
He had promised this several months ago and now fulfilled his
commitment, stressing his involvement on 1 July in Stra: “You don’t
guess the future, you build it,” with everything hanging on the
future, tomorrow, the dawn of a new period, “during the wait,”
emphasised Mr. Baiardo, “no entrepreneur with a bit of sense can
remain doing nothing or worse, become discouraged. Let’s use the
crisis to create new scenarios, to work hard and construct the future.
Thinking of how to get organised you realise that the world economy
cannot and will not set aside manufacturing productions to make a
recovery and above all re-establish itself.” Mr. Baiardo is convinced of
Giuseppe Baiardo, presidente Acrib,
all’assemblea annuale chiede a tutti
di credere nel proprio lavoro
Dalla Rivera
del Brenta
un segnale forte:
«Il futuro non si
indovina, si fa!»
non poteva che
partire e
svilupparsi
attorno ad una
parola che mai
come quest’anno siamo stati
costretti a udire più volte,
l’assemblea annuale dell’Acrib,
associazione dei calzaturifici
della Riviera del Brenta - e la
parola tutt’altro che magica è:
crisi. Su questo vocabolo ha
incentrato il suo intervento il
presidente dell’associazione
svoltare.
Lo aveva promesso mesi fa, e ha
tenuto fede all’impegno
sottotitolando il suo intervento
il 1 luglio a Stra: “Il futuro non
si indovina, si fa”, tutto rivolto
al dopo, al domani che verrà,
all’alba di un periodo nuovo «in
attesa del quale – ha
sottolineato Baiardo – nessun
imprenditore di buon senso può
restare con le mani in mano o,
peggio, fasi prendere dallo
sconforto. Utilizziamo la crisi
per disegnare scenari nuovi, per
impegnarci e strutturare il
domani, pensando a come
organizzarci consci che
l’economia mondiale non può e
non potrà prescindere da
produzioni manifatturiere per
riprendersi e soprattutto per
stabilizzarsi». Baiardo ne è
convinto, come noi tutti, ormai.
«La finanza creativa costruisce
solo ricchezza virtuale, priva di
fondamenti che garantiscono
stabilità e prosperità al
sistema». E lui auspica un
ritorno alle origini da parte di
tutti, «ad un mondo in cui
ognuno faccia la sua parte
puntando alla creazione di
ricchezza reale e di benessere
diffusi e non per pochi. Chi è a
capo di una impresa a carattere
famigliare, o comunque di una
piccola azienda dove spesso la
distinzione tra datore di lavoro
e lavoratore è solo formale, non
può non vivere il dramma
provocato dalla crisi in termini
collettivi e non può che
rivendicare stabilità, regole
certe, infrastrutture nelle quali
muoversi e con le quali
comunicare, in un Sistema
Paese che ci affianchi all’estero
e che non ci ostacoli in casa».
Il presidente ha chiuso con una
nota ottimistica, chiedendo ai
colleghi «di non smettere di
credere nelle nostre aziende e
nei nostri prodotti».
Una richiesta ad investire nelle
reti e nelle persone che
speriamo non cada inascoltata,
this, and so are we. “Creative finance only generates virtual wealth,
without foundations which give the system stability and prosperity.”
He hopes that everyone will return to their origins, “to a world in
which everyone plays their part focusing on the creation of real
prosperity and well-being for all and not just a few. Those in charge of
family run businesses or small companies, where often the distinction
between the employer and the employee is purely formal, are feeling
the disaster caused by the crisis collectively and can only call for
stability, firm rules, infrastructures in which to move and with which
to communicate, in a Country System that brings us closer to overseas
markets but does not hinder our progress at home.”
The chairman closed on an optimistic note, asking his colleagues, “to
continue to believe in our companies and our products.”
He hopes that this request to invest in networks and people will not
fall on deaf ears, aware that the current slowdown in the economy
and consumption is generalised, “companies like those in the Riviera
del Brenta have not been affected by the fierce selection of suppliers
carried out by the retail trade.” “We remained in the shops,” stressed
Mr. Baiardo, “although with fewer orders due to decreased sales.
Throughout this long and sad period, the footwear manufacturing
industry has fought for legality, so that those who work in Italy
respect the laws of our country and competition is healthy and
transparent.” In addition to this, great efforts have been made to
ensure that companies have access to credit facilities so they don’t
have to cut jobs, which puts those working in the footwear
manufacturing system in a position of expectation: that of those who
know that they have done everything within their powers to keep
going in these difficult times and can only expect a rosy future.
Anci Chairman, Vito Artioli, recently also elected to the chairmanship of
Cec, Innocenzo Cipolletta, ex-director of Confindustria and currently
lecturer in various universities, Enrico Finzi, sociologist and journalist,
Chairman of Astra Research, author of essays and sociological and
marketing studies, Alessandro Milan, presenter of Uno Mattina and author
of various surveys, and for Confindustria Veneto, Fondazione II Campiello
and Fondazione Nord Est Andrea Tomat, chairman and general manager
of Lotto Sport Italy and Stonefly, all shared the Acrib Chairman’s vision.
The Acrib assembly also saw the participation of champion Alex
Zanardi who, having left Formula One after a serious accident, is now
back on track with BMW in World Tourism and made his debut with a
hand-bike, conquering second place in the time trials of 2009.
Footwear produced in the Riviera del Brenta represents 52.7% of the
turnover realised in the Venice region and 15.67% of Italy’s turnover.
There is a district between Venice and Padua that is home to 1,170
footwear factories, 429 companies that produce accessories, 284 sales
companies as well as housing 46 pattern-making companies.
This geographic area has enormous export potential and in fact the
quota covers 90% of all products. Still on the subject of companies,
Riviera del Brenta represents almost 10% of footwear factories in
Italy. Over 12,300 people are employed in the local footwear
manufacturing industry, 13.9% of the nation’s workers in the sector.
Along the Riviera del Brenta, 21,815 million pairs of footwear are
produced.
con la coscienza che in un
mondo in cui il rallentamento
delle economie e dei consumi è
generalizzato, «aziende come
quelle della Riviera del Brenta
non sono state toccate dal
feroce processo di selezione dei
fornitori in atto da parte delle
“With I-Shoes Made in Italy”, explains Armando Honegger, The
Company’s Sole Director, “we have designed a specific format and
retail concept for the internationalisation of top-of-the-range
Italian footwear and accessories.
The process originates from a partnership with the Massimo Bonini
showroom, that retails exclusive footwear in key stores around the
globe, focusing on the products of famous designers produced by
the best Italian companies.
Thanks to this collaboration, 19 footwear labels and 7 accessories
brands have been selected and inserted in our multi-brand stores.
With a view to expansion, we subsequently sprang into action on
overseas markets to identify strategic partners with the know-how
and financial ability necessary to complete the business chain in the
phases of distribution and retail management.
The I-Shoes Made in Italy project is currently in the throes of
completion in China, and will immediately be followed up by the set
up of stores and the planning of communications, as in the project
of defined image.”
“Furthermore, with the objective of developing new business
opportunities,” concludes Mr. Honegger, “we have put in place and
are promoting similar processes for the internationalisation of
‘Made in Italy’ sectors: stylish clothing, furnishings and design
Dupé
Tutta l’allegria
del Brasile con
un cuore altamente
tecnologico
mondo e in particolare in Spagna, Italia, Stati Uniti, Giappone,
Australia e Argentina.
tutti e cinque i continenti.
Dupé
All the fun of Brazil
with a highly
technological soul
Colourful, fresh, full of energy and the joys of life, with their youthful,
“easy to wear” looks the legendary Brazilian flip-flops are a big hit
with everyone. When we talk about flip-flops, the mind automatically
thinks of Dupé, famous Brazilian brand for men, women and children’s
flip-flops, which originated in 1969 and today can be found in around
fifty countries around the world, including Spain, Italy, the United
States, Japan, Australia and Argentina. However, Dupè is not only synonymous
with summer and colour. The company, which recently
became part of the San Paolo Alpargatas Group, the biggest dealer in
footwear and sports items in Brazil, in fact produces sandals in 100%
rubber, contrary to many of its competitors who prefer the cheaper
plastic or PVC. Laboratory tests and surveys among consumers have in
fact demonstrated that plastic and PVC tend to attract heat far more
than rubber, with consequent overheating of feet and a feeling of
tiredness and discomfort. Furthermore, rubber is safer because it gives
better grip and is less likely to slip on wet or slimy surfaces. Dupé has
taken this concept one step further with the exclusive HXP Gel placed in
the heel to guarantee comfort, flexibility and superior duration
because it absorbs the foot’s impact with the ground. Moreover, HXP
Gel enables sandals to be processed in three sizes, giving unique
details and texture. For this reason, Dupé is today in second place in
Brazil in terms of sales of rubber sandals, which can be seen on the
feet of young people inside and outside the five continents.
