AND REMEMBER THE RACE FOR THE CURE
The Komen “Race for the cure” is
the famous event that raises
funds and awareness for the
fight against breast cancer. This
year, it has taken place in Rome on
May at the Circus Maximus.
Thanks to the cooperation of
Aeroporti di Roma (ADR), partner
of the event, the Race had an
amusing prologue at the Leonardo
da Vinci airport. On May 16, next
to Terminal 1, around 70 Zumba
instructors from around Italy put
on the official “Race for the Cure”
T-shirt and performed a dance on
“We Fight Back”, a popular song by
American singer Tim Halperin that is
tuale. Alle dipendenti dell’aeroporto
di Fiumicino è stato, infatti, offerto
lo screening gratuito del seno, per
tutta la giornata in cui si è svolta la
manifestazione.

le magliette ufficiali della Race
for the Cure e dato vita ad un flash
mob sulle note di “We Fight Back”,
popolare brano del cantante americano
Tim Halperin già utilizzato in
occasioni simili negli Stati Uniti dalla
Susan G. Komen.

Thanks to the ADR support, this is
the first time a flash mob gathering
so many participants was organized
in an airport.
As always attentive to social issues
and ready to support research,
ADR wanted to actively participate
to this event to which the whole
airport community also took part.
Female employees at the Fiumicino
airport were all offered a free
breast screening on the day the
event took place.

macchine per esaminare i bagagli
- tutte dotate di nuove rulliere di
ben 6 metri che consentono un afflusso
maggiore di passeggeri verso
i 12 portali metal detector - le
nuove postazioni di controllo ottimizzano
al meglio l’accesso all’area
sterile. Oggi vengono controllati
2.500 passeggeri l’ora; dall’inizio
dell’anno il tempo medio di attesa
ai varchi è sceso da 12 a 7 minuti
per ciascun viaggiatore e, dalla prima
settimana di aprile, si è attestato
su 5 minuti e 55 secondi, con un
miglioramento delle performance
della security del 40%.
Con l’introduzione delle nuove
postazioni, i tempi di attesa nel
corso del 2013 sono destinati a
ridursi ulteriormente, attestandosi
sui livelli dei migliori aeroporti
europei.
Tutta l’area, inoltre, è stata completamente
ristrutturata sotto il

3 security areas of
the Leonardo da Vinci airport.
Thanks to the installation of 21
new baggage scanning machines
– all equipped with new 6
metre rolling strips that enable
an increased influx of passengers
towards the 12 body scan
gates – the new control stations
optimize the sterile area to the
utmost. As many as 2,500 passengers
can be checked through
every hour; since the beginning
of the year the average wait at
the gates has dropped from 12 to
7 minutes for each traveller and,
since the first week of April, the
wait has levelled off at an average
of 5 minutes and 55 seconds.

The works, which began at the

taken place at night, in order to
avoid interrupting services to
passengers.
