People of different generations, from different countries, men and
women from all walks of life drawn to a beer-themed mini-cruise.
a bordo, su tutti Lorenzo Dabove, in arte Kuaska,
The ship glides
on a sea … of beer
once said that the basic pleasures in
life are the most satisfying. Drinking a good
craft beer is certainly one such pleasure and when
you have the chance of tasting the world’s finest
brews onboard a ship where two seas merge – the
Mediterranean, which rocks you gently, and a sea of
hops, malt, barley and wheat that unites and enlivens
– your level of satisfaction knows no bounds. 500
people enjoyed this unique experience in a striking
location like the beautiful “Cruise Roma”, capable to
join people of different generations, from different
countries, men and women from all walks of life drawn
to a beer-themed mini-cruise offering the delights
and variety of craft brewery. Participants in the 4-day
of navigation in the Mediterranean and in the sunny
Barcelona included beer connoisseurs and enthusiasts,
master brewers, producers and publicans. Beer was
not only drunk onboard but also studied with the
assistance of the many experts, who held workshops
and beer-tasting sessions. One of the stars was Lorenzo
Dabove, aka “Kuaska”, the Italian microbrewery critic
par excellence, who was the official beer taster at “A
Sea of Beer”. And what better travelling companion
than the amber fluid on a crossing like this, from one
side of the Mediterranean to the other, from Rome
to Barcelona, on a route embracing the very essence
of European identity! Throughout the Cruise Roma,
from the deck to Smaila’s lounge, there were over
100 different brews, some exclusive to the event
and making their debuts. In all, 39 breweries and
9 countries were represented. Operations (tapping
of kegs and rotation of barrels) were directed by
Manuele Colonna, the iconic publican at the famous
Roman watering hole “Ma che siete venuti a fa’”,
