capace di attirare, ogni anno, nel suo “tempio” oltre due milioni
di visitatori, in maggioranza turisti.
«Nel cuore del mondo, di fronte allo sguardo di Dio e degli
uomini, abbiamo innalzato una immensa mole di materia, frutto
della natura e di un incalcolabile sforzo della intelligenza
umana. Segno visibile del Dio Invisibile, alla cui gloria svettano
queste torri, frecce che indicano l’assoluto della luce e colui
che è la Luce». Ed è ancora il Pontefice, a ricordarci cosa si
prefiggeva Gaudì nel mettere mano alla Sagrada Familia. «In

credente e come architetto: il libro della Natura; il libro della
Sacra Scrittura ed il Libro della Liturgia».
Antoni Gaudì non realizzò tutto questo con parole, ma con pietre,
superfici e vetri. Ecco, è proprio il Pontefice ad introdurci
nella lunga, intrigante, genesi storica ed architettonica della
Sagrada Familia i cui lavori, iniziati nel 1882, di fatto non

art. It stands as a visible sign of the invisible God, to whose
glory these spires rise like arrows pointing towards absolute
light and to the One who is Light, Height and Beauty itself.”
The Pope also spoke about Gaudì’s imagination and vision:
