Arketipos is a no-profit association with the following aims:
• to promote, inform and enhance both natural landscapes and
those modified by human intervention thereby allowing sustainable
development and the individual evaluation of regions. This can
be achieved by bringing together the disciplines of architecture,
environmental protection, parks and gardens, creativity, art and
the education of both professionals and citizens by means of:
conferences, seminars, courses and training meetings;
promotion of scholarships, courses and work experience both
in Italy and abroad;
• publication and circulation of studies and publications on the
theme of the environment and landscape (books, magazines,
websites etc.);
• all other activities aimed at the further education of architects,
protection of the landscape and of the environment both in Italy
and abroad;
• collaboration with national and international authorities, universities
and other formative institutions, associations and scientific
groups;
• participation with companies in the sector to further the correct
interpretation of findings with the exclusion of those who operate
for purely commercial gain.
stata assolutamente trascurata in questi ultimi decenni.
architettura, funzionalità, vivibilità e socialità coesistono in modo
sorprendentemente evidente.
Franco Tentorio (Sindaco)
Massimo Bandera (Assessore all’Ambiente, Energia, Opere del verde)
While being a very popular topic, respect and care for the environment
has so far had little affect on our way of life and on how we build our
cities. Only now, having devoured a large part of our territories to produce
concentrations of buildings which at times are difficult to define as either
town or city, we are finally realising that we may achieve economic
development without environmental degradation. When one uses the term
“environmental degradation”, one must not think solely of the extinction
of plant and animal species and of the destruction of the countryside and
wooded areas, but most importantly of the deterioration of the spaces
in which we live. We have finally realised that our well-being cannot be
measured by economic parameters alone, but also by the quality of the
surroundings in which we find ourselves.
The ability to create welcoming, functional spaces in Italy has been totally
neglected during the past few decades. Proof of this can be seen by
spending a few days in central and northern European countries where
living standards, urban quality, attention to public spaces and to detail are
evidence of a society which considers its society’s needs.
These considerations were also present in Italy at one time, and the historical
district of Città Alta is an example of the endless abilities of man to create
quality landscapes out of stone to produce fascinating locations where
architecture, function and society co-exist in a way that is startlingly evident.
This event, organised by the cultural association Arketipos and strongly
supported by Bergamo City Council may represent an international exchange
of ideas during which man is centre-stage together with his insuppressible
desire for beauty.
SALUTI DELL’AMMINISTRAZIONE COMUNALE
BERGAMO LOCAL COUNCIL ADMINISTRATION GREETINGS
Mario Bonicelli, Maurizio Quargnale, Vittorio Rodeschini, Daniele
For the organisation of such a complex event, I feel it necessary to thank
the following:
The Arketipos partners, Renzo Crescini, Paolo Bellini, Mario Bonicelli,
Maurizio Quargnale, Vittorio Rodeschini, Daniele Simonelli, Lucia Nusiner
who have shared the adventure.
The Administration of Bergamo City Council who with their enthusiasm
have helped beyond our expectations.
The Sponsoring Businesses whose contributions and suggestions have made
this Meeting possible, a meeting which we hope will become an annual
event where one may meet the most interesting Landscape Architects.
And finally to Studio GPT who provided crucial support during organisation
of the event.
To pick up on that previously espressed by the Mayor and Councillor
Bandiera, man does indeed feel within him a desire for beauty that is
difficult to suppress, and I dearly hope that over the next few days we
will see so much beauty that we will return home yearning for beauty and
demanding it in our future projects and creations.
supporto determinante nell’organizzazione.
MEETING
The Meeting is to be held at The Teatro Sociale in Città Alta. All day
on Saturday 3 and on Sunday 4 in the morning, the most important
national and international personalities from landscape architecture
will present their work. Each speaker will explain their backgrounds
through a journey of images and words explaining projects which
promote the sustainable development of green area.
WORKSHOP
The Meeting, as the centrepiece of I Maestri del Paesaggio 2011, is to
be complimented by 4 Workshops to give participants an even better
opportunity to work with noted landscape architects. Divided into small
groups (max. 30), participants can attend the workshops on Friday 2
September.
CICLI VERDI
Meetings with experts continue at the Cicli Verdi, seminars given by a
number of our Sponsoring Businesses. They are to be held in the Sala
dei Giuristi, situated in the Palazzo della Ragione in Piazza Vecchia on
Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September from 9.20 a.m. - 12.50 p.m. and
2.20 p.m. - 5.50 p.m.
BELLAVISTA GREEN EXPERIENCE
IN PIAZZA VECCHIA
The historical square in Città Alta will come to life filled with plants
and colour. A flowering lawn, birch trees, flower beds, light, sound and
design, project by Lucia Nusiner and Katuscia Ratto (Studio GPT), will
transform Piazza Vecchia into a Green Square where landscape and
nature are the true protagonists of this new garden. The Piazza will at
the same time be both star and backdrop, an event within an event, one
of a kind, a dream garden to enchant those who visit.
WORKSHOP
Divisi in piccoli gruppi (massimo 30 persone), i partecipanti
17.50.
BELLAVISTA GREEN EXPERIENCE
IN PIAZZA VECCHIA
Katuscia Ratto dello Studio GPT.
territorio.
GALA EVENING
To crown the event, the Portico of Palazzo della Ragione in Piazza
Vecchia is the perfect setting for the Gala Evening on Saturday 3
September. Catering is to be supplied by Da Vittorio (Michelin 3-star
restaurant), providing a menu in which tradition and typical products
from the Bergamo region are blended with Bellavista Franciacorta
sparkling wine.
