Costruire casse acustiche

80dB sono rumorosi,
100dB si sentono appena.
Quale affermazione è corretta? Dipende! Da voi stessi!
Infatti, si può dire che la gente reagisce in modo diverso
ai rumori: c'è chi trova 100 dB del tutto accettabili,
mentre per altri 80 dB possono essere insopportabili.
Comunque sia, si può dire che le casse acustiche che
sembrano equilibrate con livelli moderati, a forti volumi
diventano fastidiosi per molta gente. È assolutamente
importante procedere ad un accordo fine del suono che
tenga conto delle proprie abitudini di ascolto.
Le piccole variazioni nell'impiego dei filtri, dell'attenuazione
della cassa e della lunghezza dei tubi bass reflex
sono esempi dove si può intervenire in modo mirato.
(Ovviamente, non tutti gli altoparlanti sono indicati per
livelli veramente alti. Conviene sempre rispettare le relative
istruzioni.)
Mentre nella costruzione industriale di altoparlanti si
dice che il bilanciamento sonoro è il risultato trovato
dopo anni di sviluppo, nella costruzione in proprio degli
altoparlanti si può spostare il bilanciamento - sempre
entro i limiti tecnici - secondo i gusti personali!

It is not a completely inappropriate simplification to say
that there are people who prefer high volumes and
people who prefer low volumes: There are those for
whom 100dB are not really loud while for the latter
80dB may already be unpleasant.
It is, however, a correct statement that speaker systems
which have a balanced sound at moderate levels, are
perceived as annoying by many people at very high
volumes. It makes therefore much sense to perform a
fine tuning of the sound, within a small but important
scope, which corresponds to your individual hearing
habits.
Fine variations in the set-up of crossover networks,
dampening of the cabinet, and the length of bass reflex
tubes are good examples which may be used to achieve
this aim.
(Of course, not all speakers are suitable for really high
levels. The recommendations for application of the individual
building concepts should always be taken into
account.)
While in the field of ready-made speakers it is often
maintained that sound balance has been achieved in
many years of development of a speaker system, in the
do-it-yourself field it is recommended to shift this balance
in a disrespectful way, always within the scope of
technical correctness, where it pleases you most!
