NEWS 21 Sharing, Reinventing, Demonstrating AccorHotels @ ITB Berlin: presenting brands to meet all desires AccorHotels arrives at ITB Berlin with a new identity and positioning in the market, destined to incarnate the “Feel Welcome” spirit in all its properties. At the AccorHotels stand (Hall 9/215) you will discover the true meaning of the Feel Welcome spirit: a warm, convivial and elegant treatment, including high quality materials and careful attention to detail, encompassing the savoirfaire of the group and underlining the lifestyle positioning of each brand. The 210 square metres of the stand are dedicated to demonstrating the new philosophy through four key themes: THE WELCOME Embodying the Feel Welcome spirit, starting with the welcome area, by setting up a light structure in order not to create a barrier between the visitor and the welcomer. THE LAYOUT Showing and expressing the hospitality savoir-faire of AccorHotels by presenting easy to live, humanscale spaces in lifestyle atmospheres. The ITB stand will feature different discussion areas for each of three different market sectors: economy, midscale and luxury. FURNISHINGS New furnishings of different dimensions with multiple uses. DETAILS Domestic or “home style” elements – a reminder of familiar surroundings, adding a touch of warmth. NEW ACCORHOTELS DIGITAL EXPERIENCE Covering all stages of guest contact, from dreaming and being inspired, through selecting and booking, followed by preparation, the stay, then sharing and coming back, AccorHotels proposes over 1,800 destinations via both multi-brand and single brand websites. The importance of booking anywhere on any device is fully demonstrated through the fact that a reservation is made every two seconds via the internet. Optimising and preparing one’s stay, 70 tour guides online. Check-in and fast check–out are now available online, and sharing is facilitated with over 4m fans on Facebook, not to mention other social media! COMMITTED, RESPONSIBLE AND CARING At ITB Berlin, visitors will also learn how committed, responsible and caring the group is. Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of AccorHotels explains: “A pioneering company, Accor has built its history on a deep dedication to forging ties. As a leader, it has always cared about upholding a high level of commitment to our employees, our guests, our partners and to our host communities where we live and work in more than 90 countries.” Hall 9 / Stand 215 VIRTUAL REALITY: THE REAL SOLUTION? This year’s eTravel World at ITB Berlin in Hall 6.1 will be taking a closer look at digital destination marketing and storytelling … and at the hot topic of virtual reality. At the start of the event on Wednesday, 9 March, Michael Faber, Bastian Hiller and Roland Trebo of Tourismuszukunft will provide an overview of the latest travel technology news from tour operators, destinations and the hotel industry on the eTravel Stage. Among the key topics concerning tour operators at this year’s ITB Berlin are virtual reality as a marketing instrument and the issue of new and faster ways of supplying distribution systems with data. Destinations have their sights firmly set on the visitor with an increasingly intelligent approach. The digital revolution is taking over from traditional destination management methods. In the hotel industry apps are becoming more and more important, with smartphones and tablets being used to communicate with hotels and receptions. Big data is helping to understand the customer better. Start-ups meanwhile are submitting forwardlooking ideas and solutions for the Start Tourism UP! competition. Start Tourism UP! is organised by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Research and Technology, and on 9th March the five finalists of this new competition for digital tourism solutions will present their projects at the eTravel World.
