Clark of Monticello, MS, recently passed away at Passages Hospice in New Orleans, LA. He was 62. Clark was born November 2, 1953, in Natchez, MS, to Calvin W. and Bertha Smith Clark. Clark was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church. He worked as John Clark a lumber salesman in the timber industry for decades. He had a reputation as a man who delivered on his promises in providing quality materials. An influential member of the Hardwood lumber community, Clark was often tapped to lobby on the behalf of the industry. He worked at Koppers Co. for many years prior to accepting the sales manager’s position at Kitchen Bros. Manufacturing Co., which was a member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association and the American Hardwood Export Council, for which Clark served as president. He also provided support to the U.S. Department of Commerce in their efforts to expand American exports. Well respected in the community, Clark was the emcee for the town of Monticello’s sesquicentennial celebration in 1986 and his later portrayal of President George Washington was a town favorite.
