Brisk Sales Define Recent Tupelo Furniture Market Photos By Lisa Browning upelo, MS–Approximately 600 exhibitors showcased their products recently within the 1.6 million-square-foot showroom here that accommodates the Tupelo Furniture Market (TFM), which markets itself as “The South’s Premiere Furniture Exhibition Destination.” By all accounts, sales were up and traffic brisk with many exhibitors nearly selling out of items on the floor. The event draws about 30,000 retail buyers from around the world, hailing from all 50 states and a few foreign countries. The market’s president, Kevin Seddon, reports that “it was the best market we’ve had in quite awhile.” Seddon cited aggressive buyers as the reason for the uptick, which is a reflection of an improving economy. Leather-covered furniture and diverse fabric options on solid wood furniture were influential in driving up sales, report TFM show sources. Plans are for the 2015 Tupelo Furniture Markets to continue to grow this show, whose attendance figures this year were enhanced due to more usage of electronic and web marketing by show organizers. Sales were reportedly very good at this year’s Tupelo Furniture Market (TFM), Tupelo, MS, as furniture vendors displayed new items, such as this solid Cherry 6-drawer bedroom dresser by American Woodcrafters, High Point, NC. This massive solid Oak 16-drawer bedroom dresser was a showstopper at Tupelo Furniture Market. American Woodcrafters also displayed this stunning solid Oak bedroom suite at TFM. Solid hand-sanded and finished Oak glider rockers, upholstered and with accompanying ottomans, was presented by Brooks Furniture at TFM. A solid Walnut dining table for eight, featuring upholstered high-back chairs was a crowd-pleaser at TFM, and displayed by Larry Angel & Associates, Baton Rouge, LA.
