leren. Vooralsnog nemen de registratie-autoriteiten hierin een afwachtende houding
aan. Richtlijnen voor preklinische juveniele toxiciteit zijn in ontwikkeling.
Het grensgebied tussen de kinder-, jeugd- en volwassenenpsychiatrie en het gebruik
van psychofarmaca kan als voorbeeld dienen om de discussie aan te gaan
ten aanzien van ‘nice, needed and unwanted to know’ voor kinderen. Hier ligt een
unieke kans voor universiteit, farmaceutische industrie, registratie-autoriteiten en
kliniek om te investeren in onderzoek naar de effecten van farmaca op het zich
ontwikkelende kind, het valideren van meetinstrumenten en het implementeren
hiervan in richtlijnen die de ontwikkeling van geneesmiddelen voor kinderen ook
op dit terrein ten goede komen.
