en Katie Duck werken samen in Florence
(Italie) en vormen de basis van
dit gezelschap "Group". Door hun open
struktuur echter werken zij soms samen
met andere musici, akteurs en dansers,
deze "open invitatie" is de basis van
de improviserende manier van werken
van deze groep.
Door deze struktuur, die een voortdurende
verandering met zich meebrengt,
is het niet mogelijk de voorstelling
een naam te geven. Er is een kompositie
en daarmee wordt verder gewerkt/

IMPROVISATIONAL COMEDY
Als ik naar een voorstelling ga, waarvan
ik weet, dat hij vnl. uit improvisaties
bestaat, ben ik op het ergste
voorbereid. Dan kan het dus eigenlijk
alleen nog maar meevallen en dat deed
het dan ook. Na afloop van de voorstelling
hoorde ik zelfs, dat de hele show
geimproviseerd was; dat Georgo en Jack
als het ware "blank" het toneel opstap-j
pen, zonder enige afspraken van te voren
te maken en dan wel zien wat er ge-]
beurt.

Jango Edwards.' Een hoofdstuk apart,
ere wie ere toekomt.' Hij was/is de
grote motor achter dit festival,
het Festival of Fools, ondanks de
ondertiteling "Theatre des Nations"
Hij is de fool bij uitstek en iedereen
die hem, ook 'off-stage' kent,
zal dit beamen.
Hij is er dit jaar met de beste of
bekendste van zijn oude nummers, samen
met een pianist (Stanley Haywood
of Davey Norket) en met een 'nieuwe'
show: 'The Pencilpeenie Zirkus'.
Wat ons deze show zal brengen is een
verrassing. Wat we al weten, is dat
Jango, zoals Kapitein Haddock met
flessen whiskey in zijn pupillen de
woestijn doortrekt in "Kuifje en de
krab met de gulden scharen", het
(show)leven bekijkt met een paar grote
tieten in zijn ogen. Tenzij ?
FRIENDS ROADSHOW AMSTERDAM, a sister
company of the FRIENDS MOBILE THEATRE,
will present their new show 'The Pencilpeenie
Zirkus'.
Last year the show was a work in progress
and various tryouts of the performance
were presented during the
year. The premiere of the show will
be in the Festival of Fools. The company,
under the direction of Jango
Edwards, will present a multi-media
zirkus of various oddities from out
the world. The production is based
on the bizarre, the strange and a
collection of those often considered
the freaks of our societv.

vergelijken met jazz of moderne muziek.
Iedere voorstelling wordt aangepast
aan de omgeving, de mogelijkheden
en de atmosfeer.
"GROUP"

Katie, Alessandro, Laura and Virgilio
are working together in Florence, Italy
and form the base of the company.
However, because of the open
structure of the compositions, other
musicians, actors, and dancers can be
involved. This "open" invitation to
artists who improvise is part of the
concept of the company.
The company will pick at random what
is best for stage space, facilities
and general theatre atmosphere. The
addition of other artists for a performance
has a large effect on the
choice of material and even can be the
birth of a new piece. No formal title
then, can be given to any performance,
as with the traditional theatre
or dance productions. "Group" is a
performance of the people involved and
of working together that is in constant
transition.
