JURYMARK COSGROVE (UK)Mark Cosgrove is curator van het succesvolle Watershed Media Centre in Bristol (UK), datzich tot doel stelt om hedendaagse film en digitale kunst voor een groter publiek toegankelijkte maken. In Watershed vindt ook het International Short Film Festival Brief Encountersplaats, één van de belangrijkste kortfilmfestivals wereldwijd, waarbinnen Cosgrove actief is alsprogrammator. Net als Internationaal Kortfilmfestival Leuven Kort viert het festival dit jaar haartiende verjaardag.Mark Cosgrove is head of exhibition for the successful Watershed Media Centre in Bristol (UK),which exists to provide opportunites for all to experience, enjoy and learn about contemporarymoving image media. Watershed is also host to the International Short Film Festival BriefEncounters, one of the most important short film festivals world wide, for which Cosgrove isthe artistic director. Just as the International Short Film Festival Leuven Kort, Brief Encounterscelebrates its tenth anniversary this year.CHRISTOFFER OLOFSSON (ZWEDEN)Christoffer Olofsson (° 1971) is sinds 1999 programmator voor het Uppsala International ShortFilm Festival, het oudste en belangrijkste kortfilmfestival van Zweden en het belangrijkste internationaleculturele festival in Uppsala, waar elk jaar meer dan 200 producties uit verschillendedisciplines worden getoond. Olofsson studeerde Film Studies aan de universiteit van Stockholmen kunstgeschiedenis aan de universiteit van Uppsala. Hij werkt eveneens als freelancefilmcriticus.Since 1999, Christoffer Olofsson (° 1971) has been the programme director for the UppsalaInternational Short Film Festival, Sweden’s premier arena for short film and the most importantcultural event in Uppsala, where over 200 productions from several sections are screenedevery year. Oloffson attended Stockholm University, Department of Film Studies, for two years,before moving back to his hometown to study three years of Art History and Aesthetics atUppsala University. He is also working as a freelance film critic.RUBEN NOLLET (B)Leuvenaar Ruben Nollet is filmjournalist en criticus voor De Tijd, Studio Brussel en VRT.Ruben Nollet is a film journalist and movie critic for the Flemish quality newspaper De Tijd, aswell as for the radio station Studio Brussels. He also appears on national television.FELIX VAN GROENINGEN (B)Felix Van Groeningen (° 1977) studeerde in 2000 af aan KASK Hogeschool Gent. Hij maakteverschillende kortfilms, zoals ‘Truth or Dare’, ‘50cc’ en ‘Bonjour Maman’. In 2004 oogstte hijveel succes met zijn langspeeldebuut ‘Steve + Sky’. Van Groeningen werkte samen met hetcollectief Kung Fu ook mee aan diverse multimediale jongerentheaterstukken als ‘Best Of’ en‘Discotheque’ voor het Gentse theaterhuis Victoria, waarmee getourd werd in verschillendeEuropese landen.Felix Van Groeningen (° 1977) graduated at the Ghent film academy, KASK, and made severalshort films, such as ‘Truth or Dare’, ‘50cc’ and ‘Bonjour Maman’. 2004 was his year of glory,when his first feature film, ‘Steve + Sky’ was well received by audiences and critics alike. VanGroeningen has also worked for Kung Fu collective and the theatrical company Victoria in assistingon several ‘multimedia plays’ for young audiences, such as ‘Best Of’ and ‘Discotheque’,plays which toured several European countries.ILSE SOMERS (B)Ilse Somers studeerde zowel aan het RITS als aan de Columbia University in New York, waarze afstudeerde als Master of Fine Arts in 1990. Sinds 1995 doceert ze scenario en werkt zeals consultant. Ze schreef het scenario voor onder meer ‘Olivetti 82’ en ‘Suske & Wiske: DeDuistere Diamant’. Somers viel in de VS in de prijzen met haar korte documentaire ‘Joey-Joey’, maar ook in eigen land werd haar werk bekroond: voor haar kortfilm ‘Sancta Mortale’ontving ze de eerste prijs voor beste Vlaamse kortfilm op het Internationaal Filmfestival vanGent in 1997.Ilse Somers was educated at RITS Brussels and obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree fromColumbia University, Film Division, New York in 1990. In 1995 she started teaching screenwritingand took up working as a consultant. She wrote several screenplays, including ‘Olivetti82’ and ‘The Dark Diamond’, after the successful albums of Spike and Suzy. Her work wasawarded both in the USA and in Belgium: her short documentary ‘Joey-Joey’ won prizesoverseas, and in October 1997 her short film ‘Sancta Mortale’ won the first prize at the GhentInternational Film Festival.73
