challenge. They sought the best advice. They didn't<br />

worry where the ideas or coaching came from if they<br />

could benefit Norway. They adapted useful lessons<br />

and valuable practices. There are no sympathy points<br />

for being a small country at the North of Europe.<br />

The Olympic message is simple: you must be better<br />

than everyone else to bring home the gold.<br />

Norway's golden harvest in Albertville was astonishing.<br />

The team didn't win by complaining about other<br />

athletes. Champions don't simply watch others in<br />

action. They get onto the field where the action<br />

takes place . Norway's Olympic example is a message<br />

and possibly a warning.<br />

Norway can win in other fields. Everyone who celebrates<br />

Olympic success recognizes merit . Championship<br />

attends excellence in every field. Excellence<br />

is the mark of pride and its reward. It reveals the<br />

dignity of the spirit. It is a mark of the moral<br />

achievement distinguishing those who do the best<br />

with what they h<strong>av</strong>e.<br />

Comparison is the method of this report, not its<br />

purpose. We do not look at others with envy or<br />

regret; we observe them to learn. Our task is to<br />

offer recommendations for excellence . We propose<br />

ideas for incremental improvements and quantum<br />

leaps. The purpose of this report is a contribution<br />

to Norway's future, a Norway that carries the<br />

Olympic torch out of the stadium into daily action,<br />

into the arena where Norwegians live and work.<br />

The Olympic lesson is clear. Insist on excellence.<br />

Don't accept complaints, excuses or envy! Four<br />

million players are the team. Chamionship Norway is<br />

the goal."<br />

<strong>Vi</strong> vil hevde at det må være mulig offensivt å møte de<br />

mange utfordringer <strong>som</strong> her ligger til beste for alle <strong>som</strong><br />

vil ha glede <strong>av</strong> at Norges renomme ute og hjemme styrkes.<br />

Lillehammer OL '94 AS skriver bl.a. følgende:<br />
