Iphan – Ao longo de sua trajetória,<br />
esse organismo federal,<br />
responsável pela preservação do<br />
patrimônio cultural do Brasil e<br />
criado pelo presidente Getúlio<br />
Vargas, mudou de sigla várias<br />
vezes, lista<strong>da</strong>s a seguir:<br />
· 1937- Lei 378, de 13 de janeiro,<br />
regulamenta<strong>da</strong> pelo Dec. Lei 25,<br />
de 30 novembro, criou o Sphan -<br />
Serviço do Patrimônio Histórico e<br />
Artístico Nacional;<br />
· 1946 - Dec. Lei 8.534, de 2<br />
janeiro, alterou o nome para<br />
Dphan - Departamento de<br />
Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico<br />
Nacional;<br />
· 1970 - Dec. 66.967, de 27 julho,<br />
transformou o Dphan em Iphan -<br />
Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e<br />
Artístico Nacional;<br />
·1979 - O Iphan foi dividido em<br />
Sphan (Secretaria), órgão<br />
normativo, e a Lei 6.757, de 26<br />
novembro, criou a FNPM -<br />
Fun<strong>da</strong>ção Nacional PróMemória,<br />
órgão excutivo;<br />
· 1990 - Lei 8.029, de 12 abril,<br />
extinguiu Sphan e FNPM,<br />
substituí<strong>da</strong>s pelo IBPC - Instituto<br />
Brasileiro do Patrimônio Cultural;<br />
· 1994 - MP 752, de 6 dezembro,<br />
transformou o IBPC em Iphan -<br />
Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e<br />
Artístico Nacional 12 .<br />
12. Independentemente <strong>da</strong> <strong>da</strong>ta, será usa<strong>da</strong><br />
genericamente a sigla mais conheci<strong>da</strong>: Iphan.<br />

Iphan – Throughout its history,<br />
this federal agency created by<br />
President Getúlio Vargas for the<br />
preservation of the Brazilian<br />
cultural heritage had changed its<br />
acronym several times:<br />
· 1937 - Law 378 of January 13,<br />
regulated by the Decree Law 25<br />
of November 30, created Sphan -<br />
National Historical and Artistic<br />
Heritage Service;<br />
· 1946 - Decree Law 8534 of<br />
January 2, changed its name to<br />
Department for National Artistic<br />
and Historical Heritage;<br />
· 1970 - Dec. 66 967, of July 27,<br />
transformed DPHAN into Iphan<br />
-The Historic and Artistic<br />
National Heritage Institute;<br />
1979 - Iphan was divided into<br />
Sphan (Secretariat), its regulatory<br />
organ, and the Law 6757 of<br />
November 26, created the FNPM<br />
– The Pro-Memory National<br />
Foun<strong>da</strong>tion, the executive organ;<br />
· 1990 - Law 8029 of 12 April<br />
extinguished Sphan and FNPM,<br />
that were replaced by IBPC -<br />
Brazilian Institute of Cultural<br />
Heritage;<br />
· 1994 - MP (Provisional<br />
Measure) 752 of 6 December<br />
transformed IBPC into Iphan -<br />
National Historical and Artistic<br />
Heritage Institute 12 .<br />
12. Regardless of the <strong>da</strong>te, we will always use<br />
the most widely known abbreviation: Iphan.
