The aim of this work is to analyse through breast-feeding, how the woman body is
possible to be medicalized, moreover, to think how this body is constructed as a medicine
object in our modern society. To understand this issue, it was realized direct analyses in a
ONG Amigas do Peito’s group of mothers that define itself as a group of “helping each
other” for women, and also interviewed five women who felt difficulties in breast-feeding.
The analyses highlighted that medical speech legitimates a naturalization in the process of
breast-feeding which is still established as one of the functions associated with maternity
and also that speech, at long last, intends to create a misappropriation of the woman body
when it produces a discipline control upon it.
