9ABSTRACTThe objective was to evaluate the implantation of a Comprehensive Dental CareProtocol (CDCP) at a health unit from Primary Care of João Pessoa-PB. It wasconducted an uncontrolled clinical trial with before and after. The sample consisted of32 users, who ma<strong>de</strong> six phases: diagnosis of <strong>de</strong>ntal needs, emergency solving,performance of restorative interventions, application of promotio<strong>na</strong>l measures,assessing the level of health achieved, and periodic controls. The Simplified OralHygiene In<strong>de</strong>x (OHI-S), the Gingival Bleeding In<strong>de</strong>x (GBI) and the Decayed, Missingand Filled Teeth (DMFT) were applied before and after implantation of CDCP. Theimpact on the oral health, oral hygiene, access and resolution of the service wascollected before and after the <strong>de</strong>ployment of CDCP. Statistical a<strong>na</strong>lysis was given bythe Wilcoxon test with a confi<strong>de</strong>nce level of 95% (α=0.05). The patient’s perceptio<strong>na</strong>bout the implantation of CDCP, was also collected and data was a<strong>na</strong>lyzed by ContentA<strong>na</strong>lysis technique. Between September of 2010 and February of 2011 wereperformed 97 <strong>de</strong>ntal visits, in 120 hours of work. All study participants which receivedbasic discharge (n=20) reported that CDCP contributed to improving the status andoral health knowledge.
