ABSTRACT
Among Lina Bo Bardi 's (1914-1992) built work, SESC Fábrica
da Pompéia disguises itself as one of the most exemplary cases
of her architectural thinking complexity. Situated in the
last moments of her trajectory, the SESC Pompéia project
brings in its conception and development several architectural,
cultural and aesthetical principles prepared by Lina throughout
her career, which present themselves at that project
with special maturity and consistency. This research intends
to investigate therefore Lina Bo Bardi's professional trajectory,
having as it's main objects of analysis her qualification
as architect, the architectural project and the several appropriation
forms of the built space in SESC Fábrica da Pompéia
by it's users. Enfasis to her drawings, considered by the architect
as a fundamental tool to design, and that reveal many
of Lina's intentions for the spaces she designed, representing
several appropriation forms of the architecture. Based on discussions
and points presented about those concepts in Lina
Bo Bardi's work, it's proposed analyzing the project after those
drawings. Through an isometric projection drawing, the
main spaces were represented on an attempt of finding relations
between designed space and forms of appropriation by
people. Finally, this research searches for rising hypothesis
about what in fact mean these concepts inside Lina Bo Bardi's
work as architectural, intellectual, cultural and political
intentions of acting in the social space. And, in the same way,
to reflect on the importance of Lina Bo Bardi's thoughts and
built work on contemporary discussion about the paths for
brazilian art and architecture in fields of action of architectural
project, popular culture and historical heritage, on which
the architect proposed to work intensively on SESC Fábrica da
Pompeia's project.
