Improve the opportunities for the participation of the public in the
permitting procedure by establishing an internet-based register for
permits where anyone can seek information on current applications
and valid permits
The above proposals clearly require more extensive legal consideration
than has been possible in this work. Together, however, they
represent the best opportunity for systematically improving the system
for environmental licensing taking into account international
regulations, existing administrative burdens, and the need to maintain
some kind of legal system as a key instrument in implementing public
environmental policy. Hopefully, this report will serve as an
inspiration to the concerned parties to improve the environmental
licensing system.
