Project (MPP) between 1974 and 1986, of which 12,090 men were age 44-50 at baseline venipuncture.<br />

We identified men with prostate cancer metastases by the end of 2006. The rate of PSA testing during<br />

the follow up period was very low. Men who died from prostate cancer with no radiographic evidence of<br />

metastases were considered to have the event on their date of death. A nested case-control design was<br />

utilized to investigate the association between PSA at age 44-50 and subsequent metastatic disease.<br />

PSA, free PSA, and kallikrein-related peptidase 2 (hk2) were measured in archived plasma for 184<br />

cases and 496 matched controls.<br />
