Autor pisze, że partyzanci wymordowali całą wieś, łącznie zkobietami i dziećmi.Prof. Kulesza poinformował, że przekazał sprawę oddziałowej Komisji Ścigania Zbrodni PrzeciwNarodowi Polskiemu w Łodzi, która zajmuje się zbrodniami z dawnych Kresów Wschodnich II RP. In a letter dated February12, 2001, the Congress quoted published accounts of the perpetrators of the crime in Spring 1944 on theinhabitants of the village of Koniuchy in the former Nowogródek district. (These accounts arefrom the following publications: Chaim Lazar, Destruction and Resistance, New York, 1985; Israel Weiss,Memorial to a Jewish Community in Poland, Tel Aviv, 1962; Isaac Kowalski, A Secret Press in NaziEurope, New York, 1969; Rich Cohen, The Avengers, New York, 2000.)According to the authors of the letter, confirmation of the massacre at Koniuchy can be also found in adiary of Jewish partisans published as “Operations Diary of a Jewish Partisan Unit in Rudniki Forest,”which states that the attack took place in January 1944, with the participation of partisans from the units ledby Yaakov Prenner (“Death to the Fascists”) and Shmuel Kaplinsky (“To Victory”) from the so-calledLithuanian Brigade. The authors of the letter also quote Polish historian Kazimierz Krajewski’s Na ZiemiNowógrodzkiej: “Nów”—Nowogródzki Okręg Armii Krajowej, published in Warsaw in 1997: “The only‘fault’ of the inhabitants of Koniuchy was the fact that they had had enough of the daily – or, rather, nightly– robberies and assaults, and they wanted to organize a self-defence. The Bolsheviks from the Rudnikiforest decided to level the village to the ground in order to terrorize into submission the inhabitants of othersettlements. ... The murder of the population of Koniuchy, including women and children, has beendescribed by Chaim Lazar as an outstanding ‘combat operation,’ of which he is genuinely proud. Thedescription [by Lazar] of the village’s ‘fortifications’ is complete nonsense. It was a normal village, inwhich some of the men had organized a self-defence unit.
