Commission on Excellence in Educ<strong>at</strong>ion declared the United St<strong>at</strong>es a n<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>at</strong> risk. Almost 30 years l<strong>at</strong>er, many declare<br />

th<strong>at</strong> not much has changed despite all the efforts of educ<strong>at</strong>ional reform. Take a moment to w<strong>at</strong>ch the Still At <strong>Risk</strong> video.<br />

Then, read the article ?Your Child Left Behind,? and reflect on the following questions: a. Wh<strong>at</strong> do you believe is the<br />

?root? of the problem? b. Based on your own experiences in educ<strong>at</strong>ion, wh<strong>at</strong> role has educ<strong>at</strong>ional policy played in trying<br />

to improve our schools? c. Wh<strong>at</strong> branch of government (federal, st<strong>at</strong>e, or local) should have a role in educ<strong>at</strong>ional<br />

reform? Why? Guided Response: Analyze several of your classm<strong>at</strong>es? posts. Respond to <strong>at</strong> least two of your<br />

classm<strong>at</strong>es and give your feedback on the ?root? of the problem. Do you agree or disagree with each of their positions?<br />

Also, provide recommend<strong>at</strong>ions on the role the government should or should not have in educ<strong>at</strong>ional reform.<br />
