The Bolshoy Ice Dome is the place where the hockey competitions were
held during the 22 nd Winter Olympics and 11 th Winter Paraolympics in Sochi
in 2014.
This is the most original, exceptionally convenient, multifunctional and
modern sports installation of the Olympic Park, built for an audience of
12,000 visitors.
It was built in 2012 according to the plans of architects Nikita Tsymbal
and Aleksandr Knyazev and was designed in the shape of a giant frozen
silver droplet. The dome of the stadium is visible from afar thanks to its
pearly-white color.
The location is very convenient for organizing mass-cultural events while
there are no competitions being held (concerts, exhibitions, forums,
festivals, etc.).
The Ice Dome is the home arena of the Sochi Hockey Club of the KHL.
