Of course no trip abroad is complete without a bit
of rest and relaxation and Surgut’s included a weekend in
LasVegas, which is about a four-hour drive from Bakersfield.
This time out from oil and gas did, however, have its energy
moments. The delegation learned first hand about alternative
energy developments in the U.S. as our journey took us
through wind farms in California, and the world’s largest
solar energy farm in the Mohave desert – both projects
that feed the LosAngeles power grid. And what’s a trip to
LasVegas without an engineering tour of the inner workings
of the Hoover Dam hydroelectric plant?
LosAngeles was our last stop before the group flew back
to Moscow – Long Beach to be exact. It’s better swimming
there than downtown LA. NOV’s Orange County manufacturing
plant hosted Surgutneftegaz. There, NOV top drives are
manufactured and shipped world-wide. In fact, while low oil
prices did cut the volume of orders (as all companies in the oil
and gas industry have experienced), Russia together with the
Middle East remain the two export markets that are still very
much alive for NOV production out of California.
A boat tour to view offshore oil production near
Long Beach and a gala dinner on the Queen Mary historic
ocean liner docked nearby. This, together with a tour of
Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and our 2016 Technical
Excellence Tour drew to a close.

езды от города Бейкерсфилда. На этот раз, без нефти и газа,
но с другими «энергетическими моментами». Делегация
узнала из первых рук о разработках в области альтернативной
энергетики в США, поскольку на нашем пути были
ветровые электростанции в Калифорнии и самый большой
в мире солнечный энергоцентр в пустыне Мохаве – оба проекта
снабжают Лос-Анджелес электроэнергией. И чем бы
была поездка в Лас-Вегас без инженерного тура и осмотра
гидроэлектростанции Плотина Гувера?
В Лос-Анджелесе была наша последняя остановка,
перед тем как группа вылетела обратно в Москву, точнее,
остановка была в Лонг-Бич. Там плавать лучше, чем в центре
Лос-Анджелеса. Гостей из «Сургутнефтегаза» принимали на
заводе компании NOV в Orange County. Там изготавливаются
и оттуда отправляются на экспорт по всему миру верхние
приводы. На самом деле, в то время как из-за низких цен
на нефть объемы заказов сократились (как смогли прочувствовать
все компании нефтегазовой отрасли), Россия
и Ближний Восток остаются двумя экспортными рынками,
все еще довольно оживленными для производства NOV за
пределами Калифорнии.
Прогулка на катере с осмотром шельфовой добычи
нефти в районе Лонг-Бич и гала-ужин на пришвартованном
неподалеку историческом лайнере Queen Mary, наряду с
поездкой в Голливуд и Беверли-Хиллз завершили наш «Тур
по техническому совершенствованию – 2016».
