Dr. Walter Cebulski was the president of our society for 15 years and contributed<br />

greatly to the growth and success of our society. He continued to be involved in our<br />

activities until shortly bef fore his death. During his presidency, the society created<br />

many funds for many charitable causes. In 2012, funds from Dr. Cebulski and Maria a<br />

Cebulski Trust Fund we ere donated to <strong>PAMS</strong> in order to establish the Cebulski<br />

Scholarship Fund.<br />

Roman S. Cooper<br />

Businessman, Philanthropist<br />

Roman Cooper came to the United States as a medical student in 1968 and stayed<br />

in Chicago forever. He obta ained a degree as a respiratory therapist, taught classes at<br />

local colleges, and establis shed his business, The Cardiorespiratory Systems. Roman<br />

and his wife, Barbara, wit<br />

thout t doubt, have been the most loyal l and generous supporters<br />

of the Polish Amer rican Medical Society since 1990. They were given special<br />

recognition from our socie ety for their generous support. In addition, they supported<br />

many other Polonia organ nizations and received numerous awards. They were given<br />

special recognition for th heir exceptional interest in the promotion of Poland rich<br />

heritage from th e American Institute of Polish Culture in Miami.<br />

Krzy ysztof Krawczynski, M.D., Ph.D.<br />

who died tragically on January 28, 2016<br />

Dr r. Krawczynski was a graduate of Warsaw Medical Acade-<br />

my y, who did his post-doctoral training at Cornell University<br />

Medical College in New York.<br />

Fro m 1984 to 2015 Dr. Krawczynski worked at the US Center<br />

for<br />

Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, where he was Chief of<br />

th e Division of Viral Hepatitis. There, he achieved the high-<br />

est<br />

possible academic rank of Distinguished Consultant. Dr.<br />

Kra awczynski was an author of 128 scientific publications and<br />

wa as a recipient of several scientific awards in Poland and in<br />

th he US. His wife, Dr. Elzbieta Gurtler-Krawczynska, also a<br />

graduate of Warsaw Medical Academy, was an ac ccomplished cardiologist at Emory University in Atlanta.<br />

The Polish-American Society in Chicago was proud to elect Dr. Krzysztof Krawczynski an Honorary Member in<br />

2012 at our Ball, which he attended with his wife, daughter and granddaughters.<br />
