Polish American Medical Society Dental Study Club The Polish - American Medical Society Dental Study Club (PAMS DSC) was organized in 2001 by Dr. Dorota Anasinska who coordinated over 60 lectures covering various dental topics, including restorative treatment and practice management. The dental section has contributed to scholarships for dental students and participated in organizing the May parade. This section had its own banner and its own section in the newsletter and in the ball program book. Dr. Anasinska served as the Society’s treasurer and vice-president for four years and was the co-emcee of four annual balls. She has helped in ball and picnic preparations and other Society activities. In order for the DSC to be recognized by the dental licensing boards and to be able to provide Continuing Education (CE) credits, Dr. Anasinska completed the accreditation process for the organization to be validated and become an AGD (Academy of General Dentistry) approved program provider for continuing education. 1 2 In November 2002, the Dental Study Club became accredited and recognized for its commitment to develop and deliver high-quality, scientifically-sound training that adheres to the AGD nationally recognized standards. The Goals of the PAMS DSC were: • To continually provide high quality, scientifically sound and interesting CE programs for all attendees • Promote excellence in delivering dental care to the commu nity • To rejuvenate and keep abreast of new knowledge in dentistry • Increase camaraderie among colleagues • To provide resources and guidance to students entering the dental profession and to dentists from Poland seeking entry to practice dentistry in the U.S. • Provide scholarship support to students of the dental profession 1 Dr. Anasinska receiving an award from Dr. Bronislam Orawiec during the 2009 PAMS Physicians’ Ball. 2 Dr. Anasinska and her mother Danuta Anasinska. 3 Oct. 2007, Dr. Dumanska-Rudzki, ?, Dr. Pappanicolau, ?, Marek Rudzki 3 The PAMS DSC met five times a year and provided a variety of topics in dentistry. The topics were selected based on surveys of the group’s educational needs. 82
