Anaphylaxis Awareness and EpiPen<br />
Training<br />
As part of the anaphylaxis awareness in the<br />
Polish community program, Dr. Szpindor<br />
has been organizing workshops on anaphylaxis<br />
and how to use injectable epinephrine<br />
EpiPen for the Polish community since<br />
2010. The workshops took place at the Polish<br />
National Alliance Headquarters, the<br />
Copernicus Center, and in Polish Saturday<br />
schools. During the workshops, the participants<br />
receive a folder with information<br />
on anaphylaxis, allergies, asthma, and two<br />
EpiPen demo units to take back to their<br />
school or organization. They are also instructed<br />
how to use the folder to teach others<br />
how to respond effectively to an allergic<br />
emergency.<br />
The goal of the anaphylactic awareness in<br />
the Polish community program is to increase<br />
anaphylaxis awareness in more than<br />
60 Polish schools, 16,500 Polish students,<br />
more than 1,000 teachers and religious instructors,<br />
church groups, dance groups, and<br />
thousands of parents.<br />
