Lake Whitney Elementary<br />
School hosted its fifth annual Dolphin<br />
Dash 5K Run/Walk. Approximately<br />
300 runners participated in the event,<br />
including LWES students, families and<br />
community members.<br />
The course began at the LWES bus<br />
loop, circled around Roberson Road<br />
into the Belmere community, went onto<br />
Maguire Road, through the Reserve<br />
at Belmere, and finished back at the<br />
LWES bus loop. The family-friendly race<br />
was planned by the school’s Parent<br />
Teacher Organization and serves as its<br />
annual fundraiser.<br />
Holy Family Catholic School’s<br />
junior junior varsity girls basketball<br />
team completed its season as undefeated<br />
champions. The sixth-graders<br />
proved adept in their defensive game,<br />
holding opponents to an average of 7<br />
points per game, while they scored an<br />
average of 36 points per game. Lady<br />
Lions head coach Rhett Kilmer maintains<br />
high expectations for the girls next<br />
season.<br />

More than 5,000 bridge players<br />
from 15 nations have gathered in<br />
Orlando for the North American Bridge<br />
Championships. Hosted by the American<br />
Contract Bridge League and held at Walt<br />
Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort,<br />
the NABC Orlando began Nov. 24 and<br />
will continue through Dec. 4. NABCs are<br />
held three times a year across the U.S.<br />
and Canada to bring together players<br />
of all skill levels, from newcomer to advanced,<br />
with opportunities for everyone<br />
to play daily.<br />
“Orlando and the surrounding area<br />
[have] a very active bridge community,”<br />
said Robert Hartman, CEO of ACBL,<br />
prior to the championships. “We’re coming<br />
to Orlando to host the best players<br />
in the game, but also to give thanks for<br />
all we have, which for our members<br />
includes the ability to play the game they<br />
love so much.”<br />
