The First Academy’s women’s volleyball team celebrates its 2016 state championship.<br />

Beach Gardens to win.<br />
“This is such a great accomplishment,”<br />
said coach Haley Malone. “I’m so<br />
proud of the girls and how they did after<br />
all of the hard work they put into this<br />
season.”<br />
There were several accomplishments<br />
as Dr. Phillips High School’s<br />
swimming and cross country seasons<br />
came to a close.<br />
Senior Jake Meisenheimer broke<br />
the men’s swimming and diving school<br />
record in the 200 freestyle preliminaries<br />
and broke it again in the finals at<br />
the state championship with a time of<br />
1:41.21. Meisenheimer finished his high<br />
school career as an 11-time Metro West<br />
Conference Champion and a nine-time<br />
District Champion.<br />
Tyler Haugh also wrapped up his<br />
swimming career with three Metro West<br />

Conference titles and as a four-time<br />
District Champion.<br />
The Panthers’ women’s swim team<br />
placed 16th out of 46 scoring teams at<br />
the 2016 State Championship. Senior<br />
Maddie Magrino finished her swimming<br />
career as a three-time Metro West<br />
Conference Champion and five-time<br />
District Champion.<br />
Junior Isabela Bartczak represented<br />
the DPHS women’s cross country<br />
team at the 2016 State Championship.<br />
She placed 23rd in a field of 181 runners<br />
with a time of 19:19, finishing a<br />
tremendous season for the Metro West<br />
Conference Champion.<br />
