strengthens UAE’s position as a global maritime hub<br />

The “UAE Summit of Marine<br />
and Maritime Leaders” and the<br />
“UAE Maritime Youth Summit<br />
for Empowering Emirati Youth<br />
Leaders in Maritime Domain”<br />
have successfully concluded in Abu Dhabi.<br />
They were held under the patronage of<br />
H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif<br />
Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure<br />
Development, and Chairman of the<br />
Federal Transport Authority-Land &<br />
Maritime.<br />
The two summits drew great attention<br />
from top decision makers in the marine and<br />
maritime industries in the UAE. They were<br />
held under a strategic partnership with<br />
the General Command of UAE Armed<br />
Forces, and sponsored by major national<br />
companies including Abu Dhabi Ports,<br />
National Marine Dredging Company, and<br />
National Drilling Company.<br />
“The UAE relies on the maritime<br />
sector to maintain its position as the<br />
second largest economy in the Arab<br />
World, and to increase non-oil revenues<br />
in accordance with its strategy to diversity<br />
economy. Therefore, we look at such<br />
meetings and conferences differently<br />
from other conferences. We have been<br />
fol<strong>low</strong>ing our successes in this sector<br />
and found that it is important to create<br />
platforms for these forums. The success<br />
of both summits, which were held for<br />
the second time in Abu Dhabi, was the<br />
<strong>res</strong>ult of decades-long preparations for the<br />
UAE to lead the international maritime<br />
sector. This success also coincides with the<br />
government’s efforts to build a sustainable<br />
economy that is not reliant on oil and gas<br />
