Enjoy “Beachside Glamour: The Sand and Surf Show,”
which is the final fashion show event and features swimwear
and beachwear, and the “Fashion Week Boutique:
Shopping Event” on January 29 that features pop-up boutiques
selling the clothing and accessories from the week.
It’ll be a one-stop shop for decorating the temple that is
your body, and no mall involved. Events are held up and
Peace out, coffee, there’s a better drink in town. Hot
or cold, tea is such a go-to drink if you need to mellow
out, get a pick-me-up, and everything in between.
January 12 is National Hot Tea Day so count your
lucky stars because you have a tea gem right in your back
yard. Yaxche Tearoom is the golden ticket of tea shops because
it features more than 100 different types of teas from
all over the world, and the super friendly tea-istas are more
than willing to let you smell your way to your perfect tea
blend. To top it off, they make all of their teas with GOOD-
WATER, which they claim is the purest, cleanest water on
Earth. (Hey, if it’s good enough for the President, it’s good
enough for me.) You’re invited to take a seat in their eclectic
space, enjoy your tea and a bite to eat, and revel in all
that is good in the world. Enjoy a cup of Soul Mate, Cosmic
Coconut, Dream Catcher or Feelin’ Fine, among others,
feel the zen and repeat. Yaxche Tearoom is located at 14 S.
Swinton Ave. Visit www.yaxchetearoom.com or call (561)
Yes, it’s the New Year. Yes, we all said we were going to
get super fit, tan and attractive this year. ..or maybe
that was just me. Regardless, feeling great doesn’t
mean that we have to eat gluten-free cardboard until we’re
skeletors. January 1 is the start of National Lose Weight/
Feel Great Week and is a great time to kick-start our goals
for 2017. If you don’t feel like cooking for yourself the
whole week (and still want a bit of fun), head to Gary Rack’s
Farmhouse Kitchen downtown and indulge in their waistfriendly
menu. They focus on a farm-fresh lifestyle, do not
cook with butters, creams or use excess fat, and a significant
portion of their menus items are either gluten free, vegan or
vegetarian. Some of their signature items include a crushed
avocado toast with ricotta and kale pesto for $9, or a fried
green tomato with green beans, goat cheese and roasted tomato
for $11. They also offer salads made with farm-fresh
organic greens hand-picked from their trusted purveyors,
including the roots and fruits salad and kale yeah salad
for $14 each. If you want something beefier, enjoy the bison
meatloaf with cheddar cauliflower mash, green beans
and shiitake gravy for $21 or the spaghetti squash casserole
(which is off-the-charts good) with artichoke, zucchini,
arugula, mozzarella and Pomodoro for $18. Whatever your
healthy pleasure, you are guaranteed to lose weight and feel
great after your meal, and that’s something we can all celebrate.
Gary Rack’s Farmhouse Kitchen is located at 204 E.
