Semester-I<br />
Apparel Pattern Mak<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Course Code: MCT103 L-3, P-0, C-3<br />
Objectives: To develop an understand<strong>in</strong>g of the pr<strong>in</strong>ciples of pattern mak<strong>in</strong>g and help <strong>in</strong> <strong>ac</strong>quir<strong>in</strong>g skills<br />
required for garment mak<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
Course Contents<br />
Unit – I<br />
Methods of pattern mak<strong>in</strong>g: (a) Draft<strong>in</strong>g; (b) Flat pattern; (c) Drap<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Their pr<strong>in</strong>ciples, applications and limitations <strong>in</strong> cloth<strong>in</strong>g construction.<br />
Types of block patterns-standard, simplified, tailored, trade, primary and secondary blocks, blocks for<br />
knitted fabric, commercial pattern. (8 hours)<br />
Unit – II<br />
Anthropometric measurements and their values, body proportion, figure types and sizes, measurement for<br />
men’s tailored garments, methods of measur<strong>in</strong>g female figure for different garments. (8 hours)<br />
Unit – III<br />
Techniques of grad<strong>in</strong>g block, pattern envelope-front, b<strong>ac</strong>k pattern mak<strong>in</strong>g, pattern guide sheet, cloth<strong>in</strong>g<br />
term<strong>in</strong>ology. (8 hours)<br />
Unit – IV<br />
Scope of dress and apparel design, role and responsibilities of designer, use of construction features <strong>in</strong><br />
design. (8 hours)<br />
Unit – V<br />
Elements of art and pr<strong>in</strong>ciples of design and their application on apparel. F<strong>ac</strong>tors <strong>in</strong>fluenc<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> selection of<br />
clothes. (8 hours)<br />
