Lessons Learned Officer of Primary Responsibility Online Course<br />
The Lessons Learned Officer of Primary Responsibility (LLOPR) Course<br />
is an online course, tailored to NATO LLOPR's needs. It was developed<br />
by the JALLC, supported by and in close coordination with Allied<br />
Command Transformation’s Joint Force Trainer and with the contribution<br />
of Lessons Learned specialists. The aim of the course is to provide<br />
LLOPRs with the basic LL knowledge necessary to fulfil their duties and<br />
it is a prerequisite to attend the NATO LLSO Course. The course is<br />
available on the Joint Advanced Distribution Learning (JADL) platform<br />

Using This NATO Lessons Learned Handbook<br />
This handbook is divided into seven chapters advising on various<br />
aspects of being a competent LLSO and contains annexes with helpful<br />
examples and templates.<br />
Chapter 2 provides an overview of a LL process based on the<br />
NATO LL Policy, gives definitions, and outlines some of the actors<br />
involved in the NATO LL process.<br />
Chapter 3 gives guidance on gathering observations and<br />
introduces a template for gathering and documenting lessons.<br />
Chapter 4 guides on the process of analysis that facilitates<br />
development of observations into useful lessons.<br />
Chapter 5 offers practical advice on management of the remedial<br />
action process to ensure lessons are truly learned.<br />
Chapter 6 describes LL Information Sharing and the LL<br />
Community.<br />
Chapter 7 gives a summary of this handbook and where to go for<br />
more information.<br />
Annexes provide additional guidance and examples to help you develop<br />

We advise you to read all chapters quickly and then go back through and<br />
make notes regarding how the concepts presented relate to your role<br />
and your organization specifically. We’ve even included a handy big<br />
margin for you to add your notes. The annexes can be used to increase<br />
your understanding and support your daily work as appropriate. Each<br />
chapter has some introductory remarks and concludes with a summary<br />
of the chapter contents in bullet form. Boxes are used to highlight<br />
