Russo is not a designer, and yet
he is in high demand in the fashion
world. Before the lights go on in
Milan or Paris, before the models
walk across the runway, the stage
belongs to one man: Etienne Russo –
the creator of a universe where
top designers present haute couture.
He stages original shows
for his clientele, which includes
Chanel, MiuMiu, Lanvin, Hermès,
Hugo Boss and Sonja Rykiel.
Russo evokes emotions. Nobody is
immune to the magical, enchanting
worlds he creates with light, colors
and materials to communicate
with his audience. Russo’s secret to
success: the intent of a designer’s
collection should be seen, heard,
smelled and tasted the moment one
enters a room.
Russo is a perfectionist who puts
his ideas into practice with utmost
consistency, and at times to the
extreme: a chocolate cake dusted
with gold, for example, to match
a golden catwalk. From baroque
opulence to absolute minimalism –
there is no style with which he is
not comfortable, while always
focusing on the essential.
Russo is a hard worker, an adventurer
with a multifaceted background.
The son of Italian parents,
he was raised in Belgium where
he first studied hotel management,
then turned to modeling while at
the same time tending bar in a
trendy club in Brussels. Eventually,
he became artistic director of
the club and began organizing parties,
events, performances and
exhibits, the likes of which had not
been seen before. When the local
fashion designer Dries van Noten
rose to stardom, he asked Russo
to produce his first Paris show. In
1995, the multitalented Russo
established his own firm and now
travels around the globe to organize
corporate events, launch
products, open up boutiques, or
stage fashion shows. His curiosity
and creativity are always good
for a surprise. While his creations
are usually short-lived, Russo
has raised the bar in the world of
fashion and thus permanently
enriched it.
