Taf. 4.
trübe Kerne, helle Anwachssäume und große Intrakristallinporen (Sekundärporosität) sind häufig;
sichtbare Porosität bis 5 %.
Plate 4. A – Unit VII (Upper Malm) fine- to middle crystalline dolomite with intercrystalline and
fracture porosity of < 3 % visible in thin section. Coarse-granular calcite crystals attached to dolomite
crystals in the cutting sample originate from fractures cemented by calcite; B – (Unit VIII; Upper
Malm) fine- to middle crystalline dolomite with crystals up to 500 µm in size and intercrystalline
and fracture porosity up to 5 % visible in thin sections. Large inclusion-rich crystals exhibiting uniform
extinction are interpreted as originally fragments of echinoids; coarse crystalline calcite crystals
derive from fractures; C – (Unit IX; Upper Malm) this dolomite with whitish colour in cutting
samples can reveal local large intercrystalline pores up to 50 µm in size; D, E and F (Unit X; Upper
Malm) this fine- to coarse-crystalline dolomite (420 – 700 µm) is very pure and coarse especially in
the uppermost 60 m of this unit; the cores of the dolomite crystals are commonly rich in inclusions
and therefore appear dirty; the crystals reveal light overgrowth and locally large intracrystalline
(secondary) porosity; visible porosity is under 5 % in thin section.
