to take the right idea at the right time and make a product that satisfies
the needs of the market is the dream of many an entrepreneur.
and that is precisely what Fritz Merk, bernd wagner and Fritz berghammer,
the management team at M.w.b. GmbH, succeeded in doing
in 2008 in response to a competitive call for tenders by a large German
car manufacturer. since then, the company has embarked on an upward
course that would not have been thought possible before. as their partner
for hydraulics, HaNsa-FleX has assisted the young business since the
beginning.
the objective of the competition was to develop a new, more efficient tugger train
that could be used to bring materials from the warehouse to the production line. In
2008, m.w.b. won this order with the tugger vehicle and e-Frame developed especially
for this call for tenders. the company went on to sell 97 of the frames within
the year. when demand continued to rise the following year and the newly developed
variant, the more rugged C-Frame took off, the small business reached its limits.
“we couldn’t grow as fast as would have been necessary, and we didn’t want to.
So we looked for a solution that would enable us to focus on our core competence
yet still guarantee a professional sales service“, recounts Fritz berghammer. their
first step was to establish lr Intralogistik Gmbh, which from then on concentrated
on design engineering and further development of the e- and C-Frames. not long
afterwards, the solution came in the form of a cooperation with StIll Gmbh. StIll
was founded in hamburg in 1920 and is a market leader for internal plant logistics.
Since 2009 it has marketed the products from lr Intralogistik Gmbh and manages
all of their domestic and overseas after sales business. “StIll is the perfect partner
for us and is the basis of our success. I want there to be no doubt about that”, says
Fritz berghammer during a tour of the production hall at wörth an der Isar.

Compared with conventional solutions, the system from lr Intralogistik has a
number of advantages. the biggest one being manoeuvrability. the extraordinary
follow-on tracking properties of the e- and C-Frames allow even long tugger trains
to be controlled with almost pinpoint precision. In addition, the frames are constructed
in such a way that they can be connected to each other in any combination.
So the tugger train can be used to transport small parts and bulkier loads at
the same time. this principle of modularity increases efficiency immensely. “Customers
can transport all the materials they need in one tugger train. that means
less labour, time, and money of course”, Christian mosch, the plant, purchasing
and logistics manager for lr Intralogistik Gmbh, explains one of the system’s
many advantages. It can also be illustrated in figures: one tugger train does the
work of 2.3 forklift trucks. another aim of the makers of the liftrunner is to keep
its design as simple as possible. Solutions of this kind, called “poka yoke” solutions,
