Siemens relies on the service ceiling too
by christian.kern@waldner.de (deutsche Version siehe Seite 4)
Siemens has been based in Frankfurt for over 150 years and contributes to the modern
growth and development of the city with its innovative solutions. The Frankfurt
site has now also opted for a modern concept for the furniture in its new laboratory
building: a 1,100m 2 service ceiling for its new laboratory workstations.
Die Mediendecke ermöglicht die optimale und effiziente Nutzung der Laborfläche.
Service ceilings facilitate optimum and efficient use of the floor area within the laboratory.
Due to the unique configuration of the project, the
construction phases had to be planned and built in
parallel. It was clear to Siemens that this project could only
be completed by a partner with excellent concepts for this as
well as the required capacity. The laboratory fitters had to
install the entire 1,100m 2 laboratory ready for Siemens to
move in within seven months.
However, it was not just this short time-frame that persuaded
the Siemens designers to opt for the Waldner service
ceiling, which of course enabled considerably shorter installation
times to be achieved: the significant flexibility that
service ceilings offer in laboratories was a further key factor
in the decision.
Service ceilings enabled the valuable floor area in a laboratory
to be used to the maximum, resulting in floor area
being saved. The allocated usable area of the laboratory
was equipped with over 20 service columns and 16 fume
cupboards.
"A further reason for our decision to opt for the "service
ceiling" was the new "ventilation outlet" feature that Waldner
had just introduced, incorporating micro-perforation for
draught-free ventilation and even lighting, thereby creating
a significantly better working environment for our employees,"
explains Martin Rost, Project Manager of Siemens.
"And the service ceiling also offered further benefits for our
project." For instance, the installation space provided additional
fixing options on and below the ceiling.
