cm). Slightly dusty, mild spotting towards upper end of front board. Name to title
page. Lower corners of first 3 text leaves dog-eared. Slight browning to plate mounts.
Except for these minor faults, a very good and attractive copy of this very scarce

A very rare album of illustrations from the Himalayas! In 1890 Boeck made an expedition to
the Himalayas together with Hans Kehrer, an Austrian mountain guide. Some of the excellent
photographs taken during that expedition were published in this rare portfolio. The originals
were tiny stereoscope negatives, whose immense quality made it possible to enlarge them to the
large format used in the album. Pictures I – X were made during an excursion through Sikkim.
Boeck and Kehrer went from Darjeeling to the blaciers of the Kinchinjanga. Pictures XI-XX
were taken in the north western province of Kumaon. From Naini Tal they marched around
the Nanda Davi via Milam and Badrinat. Yakushi B 196. Aschoff 219.
